Now I know what I have been experiencing for so many years. There is a name for it. What is it you might ask? I might listen to a song and not hear some lyrics. It drives me a little crazy wondering for sure what the words are. That is called 'mondegreen'. Substituted words for the actual ones because you can't hear them. In 1954 Sylvia Wright, a writer, used the word and it was included in the 2002 edition of the Oxford English Dictionary and also in Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary. These mondegreens are often created by a person while listening to a song because the listener is unable to hear lines and use words that sound similar of may make some kind of sense.

Interesting. I know a lot of times I can't understand what they are singing.

Same here. And I am fine hearing other things. Except for some British-speaking people.

@celticeagle When I watch a British movie, I have the captions on....In fact, I leave them on all the time...and I can hear just fine.

Sure sounds interesting. I know I've done that with songs before.
