NOT the Way to Do It!

Our mayor, from what a news report said, is going to give some COVID relief money to people in the projects.
No, they aren’t going to work for it.
No, they aren’t going to go to school for it.
They’re just going to get it.
Five hundred clams a month.
Mayor McBikeLane, as we like to call him (he’s spent I don’t know how much money repainting streets with bike lanes on them), decided that giving people $500 a month for a year was a good idea.
Personally, I think that’s NOT the way to do things.
There isn’t a place in town that’s not BEGGING for workers. Two of the biggest employers in the city are General Electric and UPS.
So why can’t Mayor McBikeLane, instead of giving people $500 for nothing, use that five hundred to organize ride shares or transportation to GE or UPS or any other place that needs workers, instead of just paying someone to sit on their tuchas and do nothing?
And that’s why I’m not a politician.
You want me to run for office? I won’t!

When more people realize they can ride for free, it won't leave enough people to pull the wagon.

Paying people for nothing when there are so many jobs needing to be filled is just silly!

He’s not running for re-election, so I guess he doesn’t care what’s silly or not.

I love that name
Speaking of bike lanes our town put some in an area that almost never has anyone riding. Just stupid.

I’m genuinely surprised Mayor McBikeLane didn’t try to put them out on the interstate. I’m sure the only reason he didn’t is because the federal government controls them.

So far the one area is all that has them here thankfully. I personally think ours makes it more dangerous for the bikers as to get to the right hand turn lanes a car has to cross the bike lane the way they did these.

I think common sense left the United States and is residing on a remote island. We certainly have none of it here, and can’t seem to find it.

I know of people who have quite 5-6 jobs, then whine because they don't have money to live on! If someone gives free money to one fella I know, it's like burning it in a fire pit!

The thing that irritates me more than anything is the fact that he’s NOT requiring any responsibility reporting for it. When I went to college under the VA’s chapter 31 I had to have my curriculum approved by them, had to keep a GPA, and the university reported everything (including attendance) to them.

@FourWalls Basically, 99% of that money will be foolishly wasted! Giving certain people more money, only gives them more to waste

@kobesbuddy — I wouldn’t have so much trouble if they were doing something like giving $500 a month to Kroger or Meijer for food or necessities.

People are begging for workers all over the place. Now they'll never go to work.

I know, at a time when everyone needs a job. Plus, the area they’re talking about is rivaling Chicago’s worst parts for body counts.
