Zen Story: The master talks about God, and creation, in both relative, and absolute terms

We are all on a relative path to Heaven, but we must be absolute about this too, to move along it to our final destination

The Zen master, Hertlick Resploslock, was answering a question of one of his students about whether God, is relative, or absolute. The Student had thought that our own existence was relative to God's absolute existence. The Zen master put him right like this: "Love is never relative, but absolute at all times, as is God, and you can choose to be so, too, and yet, each choice is a relative choice to choose the absolute, or the relative, but in the end, every choice is absolute, as it can never be changed, and all choices affect your absolute position, as it is in God's creation too." "God can change, though, in his own position within oneness, and so God can be relative to himself, at the same time as he is being absolute to all parts of his creation." "We can all fill such roles. And so, we can be both relative, or absolute, depending on how we make our choices, as can God too." "Relativeness, or absoluteness, is therefore a description of our choice, not qualities that intrinsically exist within oneness, of itself." "Choice is a capacity within us, to choose, not something that stands alone." "Relativeness, and absoluteness do not stand alone, but are features of God's oneness, that we can observe as being part of how it works, and these two opposite qualities are a part of the dual world too." "We need to cast all aspects of duality into the oneness fires of our heart though, and then God, will see to it that we live from the same absolute level of love as does he does too." "Love can never be relatively given, for it to remain pure love." Otherwise, we become lost in the relative possibilities of it all, never moving towards the absolute truth, but living from its shadows instead.

The one thing that has always been on my mind is if God created the entire world and during his time people only lived apparently in only one part of the world or knew that it existed what was going on in all the other parts of the world

Yes, if we believe in the Bible version, where most of its characters, were all situated around Egypt, it makes us think why did God focus on this small area of the World, when over in Australia, for example, the Aboriginals were living, for thousands of years, and they were there at the time of Moses too, it seems, and perhaps waiting for a saviour to appear to them there too. The way that the Old Testament has it written, and explained, is that God had his favourite pet people, at the time, (the Israelites) but it later came about that his son, Jesus Christ, brought him, God, around to seeing then that the whole world, and its peoples, were equally important to him really too.

We know of a few who are willing to dance to others' tunes to curry favor. Then they are the slimy characters out to take advantage. I try to be absolute in the sense I am who I am not prone to please. Creation as laid down by the creator is also for the long term and absolute in that sense and not fickle. It is a great example to follow as it also does not favor one species over the other. We are kept guessing by those who are fickle-minded and thereby dancing to their moods and ready to throw in the towel at the first sign of adversity. We may need to adapt but we should stick by the belief we are here for the long haul and even beyond this tenure here. Yes, we need to make wise choices and by seeing and abiding by the laws of nature, we will be on a safe wicket. We are relative as well as absolute and God himself cannot just stand still like the statue of liberty weathering all storms to end up a mere spectator to the goings on.

Nicely put siva, and wise words for anyone to follow. The chameleon, changing its colours, and the leopard always trying to change its spots, remind us that the absolute in us can't be changed, but is a given, for us to live from, and the greatest absolute in us is love. I saw a TV show last night which said that God could not kill himself, so he is allowing us to kill ourselves, which is killing him off too, a bit at a time. A bit of a shocking statement to contemplate, and let's all hope that it isn't true, and that God's energy of love will be enough to overcome all of the adversity that we all throw his way too. We are all into our own subjective/relative truths, forgetting that objective/absolute truths, are the only truths that really matter in the end. We can have our opinion, but we should not announce/pronounce that it is the only gospel truth, around.

@Shiva49 Yes, I am sure that the doctor is always working hard behind the scenes to ensure that, intrinsically, at the base level, all is working as it should. The surface might be a muddled mess, but the deeper currents run more smoothly. God sometimes does seem to throw a new spanner into the works, though, but he wants us to learn how to use that new tool, for our benefit, not against ourselves.

@innertalks Thanks Steve, people are dime a dozen to interpret what life is about but the basic truth remains right from the inception of creation. We may be temporary but we still have it in us to leave lasting impressions. Then we live long after we leave this shore. Yes, our views about creation and creator are limited to our perception. We view life through different lenses - good times for some and also the opposite for others at the same time! Maybe, God wants us to concentrate on the work at hand rather than us getting distracted by where we were and what is in store in the future. Living the moments should ensure peace of mind and that is what the doctor (God in this case) ordered!
