Culture shock

I can tell I love coffee. I still remember the very first culture shock when I arrived here (Italy). When in Indonesia I would always got a big cup then when I arrived here it was the opposite. trust me, even for this small thing, I need at least 2 months to get used to it. And if you thought it's just because I ordered espresso, no, I am not a fan of espresso. Forever I am a fan of coffee latte which is here, the cup has same size no matter it's espresso or coffee latte. The funny thing that it's not really funny, when I was landing here and my husband picked me up late, I decide to stay in Mc D for charging and coffee, there was written latte that in that moment I thought it was coffee latte but guess what I got was milk (which is in Italian means "latte". That's how I learn my very first Italian words beside "Ciao" and "Grazie". That's abit my little story about culture shock since I live here. How about you? Do you ever lived abroad and what's your culture shock?

Ask for an "Americano" if you want a big cup of coffee and ask a little latte to add to the "Americano". Macchiato is an espresso with milk but it is a small cup anyway. I was shocked about how watery was the coffee in France when we moved there.

I lived in Indonesia for five years many years ago. I picked up the language in a few months as I had to communicate with others. Loved the friendly people.

My first culture shock here in Germany was seeing young couple in the city kissing each other in the public. Even old couple holding hands. Now, I am get used to it.

@sharonelton @sharonelton This kind of coffee was the only 'coffee' which could be bought in the GDR (German Democratic Reublic) after the end of the Second World War. My mother always sent real coffee to our relatives when we had moved to West Germany.

I was surprised by the small portions of coffee. I have never lived across but I would love to one day live somewhere near the beach.

I am a big coffee lover (Turkish coffee being my favorite) and I recently moved to Zambia which is a tea nation. There is simply no place where I can find a decent cup of coffee except in my house so I guess I’m saving money hahah but I feel you because I had the same cultural shock when moving to The US(was used to small servings and the servings in America are huge).
