I have a story I never finished.

I tried writing this native novel (story) for years now.
I started writing it in 2008, chapter by chapter in my blog, but then, I grew tired of blogging and stopped writing it altogether the last two years.
It has always been my wish to write even one novel about my birthplace in the hinterlands of Kalinga, and I wish I could fulfill this wish before I die.
But apparently, I may not be able to do so.
For one, my vocabulary is now "rusty" because I no longer read voraciously as I previously did. My eyes are failing me now.
Also, I lost my drive to continue the story. No muse here. I have written 16 chapters already. It's about the practices of our indigenous tribe in the mountains of Kalinga.
What do you think is the best remedy in this situation?

Bring yourself back to a time when you were inspired to write the story.
Look at any original notes you've kept. Mentally or physically visit the places you've written of. Maybe even some videos of the mountains there or tribe members. Read your chapters again and jot down things you may want to add or change. This may help you regain your perspective and the motivation to continue.
Keep in mind that an old piece of writing is hard to step right back into.
The story may be the same but the author has changed.

I too tried to write a novel. I didn't get much past the first chapter and gave up. I'd be useless as a novelist.
