Panic Buying: Vegetables!!!

One of my adult students was so late for our class tonight. Her alibi is that the Covid-19 cases spiked in Guangdong province in China, which is too near in Hong Kong. After she got off work, she went straight to the nearest market and bought lots of vegetables. Basically, she went wild into panic buying and thinks that eating them will protect her against this killer virus. Is she reasonable with her opinion? Image Credit: cdn.i-scmp.com

Well, it's good to stay as healthy as possible . . . but unfortunately vegetables alone are not going to stop a virus. I try to buy only what I can use up soon, otherwise it goes bad and gets wasted.

@Shavkat But there's also exercise, getting fresh air, being under the sun . . . so many factors can help keep us as healthy as possible. The thing is even the healthiest people can get a viral infection - so there is no guarantee.

I do agree with you. Not all food nutrients are absorbed by our bodies. Instead, we need to take some supplements.

@much2say I do agree. Even my family and I were infected despite being so cautious.

Oh well, I guess the reasoning was not acceptable but I think when Covid is on the rise in one area you tend to panic a lot which makes you do some irrational actions to protect yourself.

Through the years of existence in this world, I learned that being panicky cannot help us.

@rsa101 Yes, coronavirus is a silent killer and we do not want to be infected as much as possible.

It seems that everyone has their own opinion about how to stop the virus. I, for one thing, whould not go to any of the countries that are taking masks off. For me, social distance, cleanness and masks are the best help. Vaccines too. Now veggies are always healthy. But I don´t think that the will stop ailments.

As of today, the cases are still in high incidence. I am against people who are anti-maskers, too.

Covid is no more the most important topic in our local news, now it is Ukraine.

I wouldn't think so. Talk of the virus has kind of shifted now as the focus is on Ukraine. It isn't as prominent on the news as it once was.
