Naked Wines aren't 'cleanskins'

We are not a big fan of large corporate organisations, especially they seem intent on driving out smaller businesses. When we lived in the country, we always bought our wine from a small winery that sold really good wines at moderate prices. We can no longer do that and we now buy our wines from a company that trades as Naked Wines. It is a cooperative that markets wines direct from the vineyards. Despite the name, these are not ‘cleanskins’ but are labelled varieties. Smaller boutique wine-growers, in particular, find it difficult to compete against the bigger wineries. Some outlets will only take large quantities and some charge if you want your wines promoted by being placed in prominent areas in the store. We received a voucher from somewhere for a $100 discount on our first order from Naked Wines so we thought we’d try them. We can specify which wines we prefer. If there is a wine we don’t like, we can ask that it not be sent again. And with every dozen that comes to the door, there are several $100 vouchers which we can pass on to friends. We’ve been very happy with our purchases and I really like the thought that we are helping keep smaller businesses solvent. Edit: Cleanskins are wines which have no label. They might be the last few bottles of a run perhaps and they don't bother to label them.

I think the name alone will help them tremendously!

The Niagara region, where I live, is littered with small wineries.
