My 11-year-old just finished her first Nancy Drew book

...and she loved it so much! I'm glad she's taken interest because this second daughter of mine tends to be picky when it comes to books. She doesn't waste her time on books that don't seem engaging to her.
Anyway, I got two hardbound Nancy Drew books just for her to try. I read a lot of these books back in grade school and high school. I'm glad I still found the ones with the original cover design. I'm getting more titles when I get the chance to visit a bookstore again.
The book that she's just finished is "The Witch Tree Symbol." She'll be reading "Nancy's Mysterious Letter" next.
Have you ever read a Nancy Drew book? Did you have a favorite book series from your childhood?

I tend to think that many kids today don't know Nancy Drew. It's just me who's eager to have my girls read the same books that I read when I was little. I'm glad they're liking it, so I guess I'm gonna get more.

I know, right!? :D Every Friday I'd take out a Nancy Drew book from our school library and read it at home while eating a bag of Chippy.

@almostoveryou Honestly, couldn't say. I've had fun reading pretty much all the ones that I've read. I haven't read many but still ...

What are your favorite titles? I would often reread "The Mysterious Mannequin" and "The Clue on the Bagpipe".

@almostoveryou I am sure she will love them. I try to find some of these books and let my 10-year-old niece read them.

I'll see if I could find Hardy Boys books too. I love it when kids get the curiosity that these characters have.

It's so good that your daughter has found books that engage her.
When I was young, I established a collection of Hardy Boy books. At one point, I had the whole set, including the Detective Handbook.
My sister had several Nancy Drew books.

That is awesome! I read very few Hardy Boys books because my school library didn't have much. I went to a private school for girls and our library had more Nancy Drew books.
I dream of owning complete sets of both Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys. The classic series.

I think the publishers launched a more modern looking Nancy Drew back in the '90s. And I think there was also a Nancy Drew movie. I didn't bother watching it though because I'm really okay with the original Nancy Drew.

Yes, I'm really happy about that. Guess I'll have to get more when I visit the bookstore again.

Yes, indeed. This is a classic series. I'm just glad that they're available at the local bookstore.

No, I've never read any Nancy Drew. I remember when I was learning to read. We learned with the Paul and Susan ladybird books.
Page 1 = Here is Paul
Page 2 = Here is Susan
Page 3 = Here are Paul and Susan
Page 4 = Paul is going to school
etc...

Have never heard of Paul and Susan. But the titles sound like they're books for beginning readers.
