Rabbi Usherle Jacobsman, had prepared a talk for his students on personality types.
Here is what he said to them:
"Our personality resists all of our efforts to change it."
"We are born with a certain tendency towards associating with a certain style of living our lives, which we call a personality type."
"The truth is though, we should not try to be someone, other than who we are."
"We should work with this personality type then, and not work against it, by our trying to change it, so as to be someone who we are not."
"Here are the different personality types that we recognise in our religion."
"The first type is the selfless leader, who leads to help others, and not to try to build an empire for himself, which he himself can then lead and laud it over. They are a role model, for the rest of us to follow."
"The second type of personality is the peacemaker, the one who tries to always settle disputes amongst others. He tries to bring people together, rather than allow them to drive each other apart. He brings a calming influence to all."
"The third type is the sometimes unruly type, a drifter, a free living person, who has no roots planted anywhere, and is happy anywhere, as he freely accepts all positions, which he finds himself within. They are usually very intuitive though, and in some part of themselves, they are aware, of what is really going on around themselves too. They are open to all eventualities."
"A fourth type is a restless, fighter, arguer, stick to your guns, stubborn type of a person."
"They stand up for causes, then try to get the cause put into action, via doggard steps towards implementation. They do remain conscientious to what they believe in, though."
"A subset of this type is the driver, who drives himself through hard work, and self-discipline."
"They can be aggressive, selfish, or self-centred, but also look towards making bonds with others, but which tend to be selfishly self-directed bonds. The good side of this is that they are joiners, connectors, and bring ideas together, fitting the pieces together for others."
"Then, there is a fifth type of personality, who is the generous type, who always does more than what is required. They give of their own time and efforts for a cause, or just to help others, not wanting ever to be fully compensated for their actions. They are agreeable to all."
"This type is also a self-starter, who will initiate action, where others stand back, and wait for someone else to step up to the plate, and to start hitting runs for the home team."
"Then we have the student, the scholar, who always wants to learn something new from everything that they do, in life. They are continual learners. This also makes of them excellent teachers, if they are given the chance to teach."
"They are the introverts, the introspective types, the wise types, who could be called sages, or philosophers too. They are flexible types too, though, and they can adapt themselves within any environment that they find themselves within, while remaining themselves, and a little reserved, and distanced from what they immerse themselves in too."
"The seventh type of personality is the manager, the business entrepreneurial type, the self-made man, so to speak. They are industrious, pioneers, survivors, resilient, and they are always hopeful about the outcomes of their speculation, and business deals. They are all for freedom of choice, and rights for individuals. They are the transformers of society, always trying to create a better one for them to do their business within, while believing in the principles of business too."
"The eighth, and final type of personality, in this teaching is the hungry, restless, eternal seeker type."
"He, or she, wants to not be of this world, but already in the next, and they want to know about these other afterlife there worlds now. They are one-sided about this, and want to solve these riddles, before they buckle down to real-life here. They can become overly focussed, almost possessed in finding out the truth."
"So, there you have it, my lads,"
he said.
"When we meet again, I want each one of you to tell me which of these 8 personality types that you think is you, or which one you identify with the most."
"We are all one of these types, but sometimes we can have a dominant type, with parts of another type attached into our mix too."

The Rabbi was a scholar type of personality, and this is why he loved to prepare these teaching sessions for his students.

Thanks.
I am afraid that I am the eighth type. I keep seeking, seldom content with what I find, but always wanting something greater.
Until now, I go on seeking, never completely satisfied with anything.
I now realise that this personality type should be accepted, though, as it is an indispensable part of me, essential for me to grow in this way.
Up until now, I was tired of the search, (as I have grown older) and I wanted to just give up, and lie down, but now, I know this is my very personality type, who I am, an unavoidable part of me, which I should embrace, and not try to cut myself off from, by my trying to move away from it, and so move away from who I really am too.
I would have more liked to have been the sage, scholar type, rather than just a seeker, but I have learnt a lot from my seeking too.

@askme123 Yes, we can be mixtures of different types, but most of us have one dominating personality.
Actually, all personality types exist in our souls, but we usually are given one main one to focus our lives through, as well as our gender, parents, environment, time, and place of birth, are all being worked out for us by our souls for us, (before we are born into a body) I think, perhaps working in conjunction with God, who the Bible says knew us before we were born here, on the Earth here, God knew us as this always existing soul self too.
I am not a leader, and I do not think that I am cut out to be one. I am a peacemaker like you too, though.

Thinks, siva.
My categories are based around the Jewish idea of there being twelve personality types, based around the twelve tribes of Judea, in the Old Testament.
Some of their categories doubled up a bit in similarity, so I pruned the list down to the main eight, instead, in my short story here.
They claim that everyone will fit into one of these categories, and we know ourselves best, so, you would be right about your seeing yourself in the third category, even though, others that you associate with, might not see you as being in that particular category at all.
Yes, you are a great adapter, plus an innovator too, always looking for the best solution, which works best in the situation too, even despite meeting some opposition to your ideas, you know they are right, and still try to make sure that they are implemented in the right way, to solve the problem presented.
Their 12 categories were:
Eternal seeker/dreamer/restless/hungry type
Freedom fighter/transformer/adapter
Manager/survivor/resilient/hopeful
Self-made pioneer/merchant/business type/industrious
Explainer/scholar/teacher/learner/sage/philosopher
Generous type/abundant thinker/positive
Initiator/beginner of things/self-starter
Driver, instigator, energetic, enthusiastic, connector, bonding with others
Selfless leader/ gentle/not a chest-beater/humble
Peacemaker/arbitrator/judge
Free spirit/freethinker/creative/solution oriented/positive
Warrior type/implementor/defender/aggressive in standing up to be counted/restless/sticks to principles
Some of these obviously align with others, so I simplified the list down to what I thought were the main 8 types for my story here.

@Shiva49 I have tried to change myself in the past, being unhappy with who that I thought that I was, but I have come to think now, that that me, was probably not the real me anyway, the one that I didn't like, as it was more a veneer, a survivalist shell, put forward by me to protect myself from people around me, who wanted to fashion me in their ways, and not in my own way.
They did not want me to be me, nor did they want to help me to do this
They did not want to help me develop into me, but into mini thems instead.
As they thought that they themselves were the best of all models for me to follow.

@innertalks I don't force change on myself away from basically who I am but try to react positively to the reality of the world.
It is sort of a seamless adaptation that I cherish and do not stick out like a sore thumb
