Food Porn: 'Sautéed Bitter Gourd with a Scrambled Egg'

It is one of the hated foods by the children out there. I am glad that I had learned the secret not to taste too bitter with our taste buds. It is a simple local dish that we sometimes called 'Ampalayang Ligaw.' You just need to have the basic ingredients: a bitter gourd, thin-sliced red tomatoes, minced onions, and garlic. Sauteeing will bring a good smell and add with ground pork with a scrambled egg. Let it cook for about 5 minutes and be ready to serve it for lunch. What's your cooking for lunch or dinner? Photo is mine.

That looks and sounds very good. I made a scrambled egg with ground pork, chopped onions and chopped bell pepper. It was really good.

I think I can add some bell peppers next time. You can try it with bitter gourd, too.

@Shavkat I'd have to grow the bitter gourd first. It's not sold in my area.

Sometimes I will chop up some bitter gourd (same as bitter melon?) and saute it and mix it in with scrambled egg . . . I didn't know that was actually a dish . But with the other ingredients, I'm sure it's tastier. Tonight we're having chicken, mashed potatoes and a salad.

@Shavkat We did have a vegetable salad - no bitter gourd though, I am the only one in the family who dares to eat it . I've never had it with potato - I should try!

In my country, we can also call it 'Bitter Gourd Guisado.' With the mashed potato, I would want some. Are you having a vegetable salad?

See that is why I love eggs. You can make a good protein dish with them.

I like to eat this type of food. But usually I will eat the bitter gourd without the egg.
