First I would like to say the wrong school and the wrong teachers has a powerfully negative effect on a child! My son was so excited to start school bit had severe separation anxiety. This made the teacher think he had autism. So he was tested and he didn't. So then they labeled him as a bad child and he didn't get good grades. The emotional stress on him trying to be good with teachers that just didn't like him was becoming too much as a family. So I moved him to a different school. The teacher felt his reading was way below grade level and asked me if he could be tested again. The tester realized right away he had dyslexia but said he was so smart. Now he gets special one on one help to learn to read. His behavior has come a long way (still loud but we are a loud family lol). He for the first time made the AB honor roll. Yesterday he brought home a book and he read on it from the time he got home until bed time and woke up reading it all over again. Super proud mommy moment! Please listen to your children and don't be afraid to change teachers or change schools. Have you had to deal with a school or teachers that weren't right for your child?

NO, I have never dealt with such a school that is not right for my kids. Glad to know that you changed the school of your son when he needed it as many parents don't understand what their kid requires. We have to be with our kids to understand them.

Yes, I did have to change school once for a pack of bad school staff. Nothing happened to my son's but some other child was beaten mercilessly by the teacher with the principal supporting the teacher. This terrified many parents and so we changed the school. In another school my elder son was already in the 9th grade and he was kidnapped. The vice principal of the school was involved in it and so we had to change the school.

A teacher can even evoke passion or dispassion in a subject.
