Poem To The World

I wrote this poem some years ago when there was another crisis involving people fleeing their country.
We are all members of the human race;
Who sets the pace?
Who decides what trials we face?
In some countries people live peaceful lives;
In others, conflict and mayhem continue to rise.
Thousands flee their homes every day;
Nowhere to go, nowhere to stay.
Tired and drawn, unhappy and worn;
Some dragging battered suitcases with handles broken or torn.
I think of the children deprived of a home;
The many children who are forced to roam
How l wish the world would become a better place;
Embracing every member of the human race.
