Bear Creek Athletic High School athletic trainer Ashley Cowan was at the right place at the right time about three weeks ago during a regular season basketball game in Lakewood Colorado when Bear Creek played a girls basketball game versus Heritage, basketball referee Harold "Woody" White who wears a pacemaker had the bad luck of having the batteries of his pacemaker stop which made Woody collapse on the court during the first half of the basketball game.
Ashley who as the game ran onto the basketball court to attend Woody who needed medical help as soon as possible.
Cowan became the lead player to ask a Bear Creek basketball player to bring an AED defibrillator so she could jump start his heart that stopped, the athletic director then called 911 to send for an ambulance to take Woody to the hospital.
Cowan along with persons inside of the gym to use their first aid skills like using CPR and the AED defibrillator to jump start Woody's heart until medical personnel came to take Woody to the hospital where Woody is currently recovering from his health scare even though he did come back to referee the same basketball game three weeks later since the game where he passed out was postponed since it would be in bad conscience for the girls to play the game after seeing a referee nearly die on the court during a basketball game.
Woody is grateful that Ashley was there to save his life at the gymnasium since he believes that God had Ashley do her job as his Guardian Angel.
Even though referees can be villains in view of sports fans when their favorite team loses a game on a bad call from the referees, it does not give a fan to justify a referee dying during a sports event.

Thats good and neat, we all humans after all. Real stuff more important than petty things like a ref made bad call so lets kill them. I have noticed NBA with the women refs they tone it down a lot and I am like good get so mad at how they complain on every little call Shut up and play fool. I am not sure why they do that but I like when the women refs there, game flows so much better.

I guess women referees are better than running a basketball game than males do.

@Deepizzaguy Males just combative toward other males.
Its hard to do that to a female if you a true man. Would you say that to your mom, NO! I think has something to do with that.

@crossbones27 You are right since I would not bad mouth my mom since she did not like anyone insulting her in a mean manner without reading you the riot act.

I agree with you since the referee is grateful to have another chance in life to work on his favorite line of work.
