The spiritual master, Sri Rama Ramason, was talking to his students about this idea of there being a "now" time, in which we should live our lives. If we do this, we make our present moment count.
He told them:
"Don't look back, as you're not meant to be going in that way."
"Don't look forwards, as you will trip yourself up right now, on your future."
"Look now, in the now, and let all other looks, into the future, or into the past, go unlooked."
Then, a student put his hand up into the air, and he asked the master if he could pose a question to him.
"Sure,"
the master replied,
"Go right ahead."
The student said,
"Much of this philosophy about this mythical now is gobbledygook, to me. In life, we have time passing continually through us, and carrying us along with it too."
"In mathematics, we have a mythical point, that does not exist in reality either, as in creation, everything occupies some part of it, that creation, if it is present in creation. It has some coordinate of time, space, weight, and energy, that makes it what it is within creation, and which exist in that combination only for a certain time span within time too."
"We all die one day. And so the truth is that if there was just a now, we could not die."
"What do say you about that?"
The great master winked, as he replied to his student.
"The energy is not in the now, but moves across time, transforming itself into things that consist of matter, time, and space, but the now is where your soul exists, and so to live fully, as this soul, now, and to connect to it fully now, you must let go of the holds on your mind now, which are these thoughts of the past, and the future, so, as soon as you see only now, your soul is seeing you, through you then too."
"Ah,"
said the student.
"So, I am a soul, living outside of time, space, matter, and my soul is the mythical point, or a part of God, that makes me, me in him."
"You got it in one,"
said the master.
"Good, good, we will discuss these things further tomorrow."
And, so ended his talk, for today.

that is very thought-provoking. Time is something we think a lot about. Especially when we grow "old"....

Thanks. I like to think over these types of things for myself too.
Time kills us all in the end, unless, there really is a part of us, such as our soul, that goes on, because it exists, and has always existed, outside of all time.

To exist in the now is not easy as the mind plays havoc taking us everywhere, the past and the future.
However, the present is the best present for us to live our lives fully and exist blissfully. The past is truly past, we have lived it already. The future is uncertain but the present is all that is there for us.
Seize the day - carpe diem - rewards us best.

@Shiva49 Yes, we should not just bury the past and forget about it then too.
Our past is worth studying over from time to time, to see where we were putting our foot wrong then, as it has led us to where we are now.
Our past will lead us into the same future as it was then too, unless we do something different, and life-changing to ourselves, right now in this present moment of now, which is all that we have right now to change things.
Change must be started now, not put off into a plan where we only hope to start the change then tomorrow.
A diet must be started today, not tomorrow, and so we then have another piece of cake today then too, and then we will oft repeat this same action again then tomorrow as well. So, our diet never does then ever start.

@Shiva49 Yes, we need the courage to start today, without allowing any attached fears to keep us in the numbness of procrastinating non-action still.

@innertalks We have to bite the bullet now than later.
It requires strength of character.
