Cry Baby Dies a Hanky Panky

When I was little, I thought the Tommy Roe song was saying "Cry baby dies a hanky panky," not what it actually says ("My baby does the hanky panky"). But remember, I was six when that song came out, and my interests were in the world of country music. (Not that I understood everything Roger Miller sang....I thought he had "old worn-out silver shoes" in "King of the Road."
)
No, this isn't about misheard lyrics. It's about me being a crybaby today.
One week ago today I fell while hanging curtains. It was a long trip down from the top of the cedar chest I was trying to get on down to the floor -- a whopping twenty inches. I landed on my brain (butt, same difference
), with an awkward attempt to brace my fall with my right arm.
Fast forward seven days, and I slept wrong on my shoulder. I decided to see if I could get a cortisone shot in my shoulder.
The fine folks at the VA hospital took x-rays to make certain nothing was broken (I never figured anything was broken, because it's been more of a "bruise" hurt or an "old lady fell" hurt than a "holy crap I broke something!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" hurt). They said that there is a possibility that there's a rotator cuff problem; however, they didn't want to go the more detailed imagining route at this time (and I don't blame them).
So crybaby here got some muscle relaxers and cortisone because she was in just too much pain.
The muscle relaxer did a fine job of knocking me out like a light for a couple of hours. Given the fact that prednisone can mess with sleep (and I already have enough problems in that department), I'll wait until lunch tomorrow, after my allergy appointment to take it.
My "civilian" doctor said I have a pretty high tolerance to pain. Not anymore!!!

Strange how that works, isn’t it….you started out older than I am, you’re still older than I am. What do you think causes that?

You're not a cry baby. When you fall, it hurts! Take care; and I hope you feel better soon. BTW, I remember this song well.

And when you fall from a height, even 20 inches, it hurts more!

Thank you.
The air has gone out of this basketball, and I can't bounce back like I used to.

And I’m so scared of medicine that one pill I took yesterday will do me for a couple of days (or until I sleep wrong again).

I love this song it always makes me smile, Sounds sort of like me when I was little I could tolerate pain very well even at the dentist which amazed my dad who had bad teeth and always hated the dentist but I could sit in that chair and take it all, Then I grew up and suddenly I had a very low tolerance of pain even a headache could make me nauseous,

Bless your heart! Pain hurts no matter how it happens. Sure hope you won't need rotator cuff surgery.
