Afraid Of Water

Being that I am afraid of bodies of water, I see no use in buying bathing suits. Then, I cannot even swim. However, when younger, I was a sun worshiper and sun tans made me feel so good. Since now older, and having moved away from home, I can probably lay out in our driveway, but am afraid of loose dogs. There is an ad on my laptop screen of a girl in a bikini looking like she is having an awesome party all by herself. I want that party like I used to! Should I buy a new bathing suit? I would need a cover up too as the roommate's cat would carve me up.

You can try dipping your feet in the shallow waters first. Once you get your confidence back then try hiring a swim coach to teach you the basics of swimming.

@moffittjc It's a good method for those who find themselves to have cold feet and is really terrified of the pool water.

As a person who made a career out of water (lifeguard, swim instructor, aquatic director, parks & recreation director), it pains me to see that you are afraid of water and can't swim. I will personally come teach you how to swim if you want to!!!!! Okay, I'll get off my soapbox now. I think you should buy the bathing suit! Enjoy some time out in the sun. Forget about the dogs and cats, if you can't lay out at home, go to a park and lay out on a blanket in the grass!

@Spontaneo There you go! Get the little pool so you can lay out and tan. Being out in the sunshine always makes people feel better. Enjoy working on that tan! Are you a one-piece or two-piece type of girl?

I bet that you always have a tan! Thank you for the offer but I do not think that your girlfriend would be too happy! A fellow myLotter mentioned to purchase an inflatable kiddie pool to lay out in. I would never have thought of. I feel so healthy with a tan. Kid's section here I go!

I think it is better for you to buy a new bathing suit. It is still fun to play in the water. It doesn't matter that you don't know how to swim. When you are not afraid of water, then you shall learn it.

I think you should get a bathing suit and maybe begin with a pool like I had in Latvia, My husband and I could not really swim in it but on hot days we could cool off and sit in it and we really enjoyed it, Just a fill-up kind of pool,.

I like it! Thank you! I could lay out and tan! I simply worry about neighborhood dogs though.

I'm thinking of getting a new swimsuit as we have a heated pool here and it is just a good depth. I feel quite safe in it.

I think you should buy a bathing suit and learn to swim in a swimming pool for starters.

When I was a child, a person had attempted to teach me but I almost drowned.
