The Real Cost of Inflation

NOT A POLITICAL POST!
When we talk about inflation of course we all know what that means, and especially when inflation is a whopping 8%, the highest since the 1980s, no one is dismissive of the pinch.
You simply can't be. It's impossible not to notice prices rising this high this fast.
So, what's the actual number? Of course, that varies depending on a variety of factors. But the average American household is currently spending $296 more a month than they were before inflation started its meteoric rise.
Taking that one step further, that's an additional annual cost of $3,552 a year. But, it is also an interesting number. Why? Because it lets you better grasp how much more you need to make just to keep up, and can even help to provide for ideas how you can boost your own income.
If nothing else, knowing these numbers gives you a bit of a heads up and starting point. It lets you set goals, or even to find ways to curb that $296 a month in creative ways.
Inflation is here to stay for a little while. We can either let it hurt us, or we can work to find ways to manage it and even beat it. Having the numbers helps to do that.
P.S. I edited the post to start with "not a political post" since it seems that is what most of the liberals who reside here probably thought, which would explain the lack of responses. Hmm. lol

Well as long as we can live through the radiation, we will all be fine.

@RebeccasFarm All we can do is deal with the here and now in our own situation and our own circumstances. Hopefully it all works out. Unfortunately, in this situation, I don't have a lot of confidence in our current leadership.

You're right because I read your political posts; but I do not respond to them usually. As far as inflation goes, we got a nice Social Security increase this year; but that was gone before it was even issued. :-(

I know. A lot of liberals do tend to avoid any posts that do not fall in line with their own side. As Reagan once famously said, "If you want to piss off a conservative tell him a lie. If you want to piss off a liberal tell him the truth."
It was true then, and it is true now. lol The left just doesn't want the truth. I am not sure why that is actually. But it sure explains a lot about how in run down cities democrats get voted back in time and time again even though no one ever succeeds, buildings get boarded up, and almost everyone living in those cities lives off welfare.
Oh well. lol
As for the social security thing that is definitely unfortunate. Votes do have consequences though. When you vote out success and replace it with the same failed policies that have never worked, what else does one expect? Just saying. lol

@LindaOHio You should not be so quick to plug your ears. Have you SEEN the state of the country? The economy? The PRESIDENT? It matters. lol
That is all. Enjoy your day as well.

I heard a travel podcast host the other day say, “The only cure for the high price of gas is the high price of gas,” meaning the price hits a point that makes people curtail travel, meaning demand goes down, meaning prices go down.
What a lot of people don’t understand is that inflation is a nice, subtle method of control. That’s why you haven’t seen the party in charge make any moves toward curbing inflation: it’s a means of controlling the populace.
Inflation is here to stay until the midterm elections, anyway. I wouldn’t be surprised if prices magically start falling in September or October. Traditionally inflation doesn’t bode well for the party in charge.

The problem is that what drives inflation, in part, is policy. Unless certain policies are implemented, it will be difficult to curb inflation. That being said, there are many things influencing inflation, so to drive it back down will require many things to happen to get it accomplished.
I think it is here to stay for a while and may actually still rise more before we see the end of it. How long it lasts would be anyone's guess right now.
