Thanks to a concerned person who called 911 to report the story that a small dog who entered a storm drain and he could not get out of the 50 foot section of the pipe due to exhaustion. The firefighters of the Dekalb County Fire Department located in Stone Mountain Georgia used their special firefighting equipment to rescue the dog since the pipe was too small for anyone to fit in. The end of this story is kind of bittersweet since even though the dog that was rescued by the firefighters is healthy and had a collar on his possession, the owner of the dog has yet to claim the dog as his or her own pet. All is not lost since even though the dog that was rescued is currently inside of an animal shelter at this time, the dog will find a home at the fire station if the owner does not claim him soon.

Now that is cool, I was like wait if no one claims the dog they still going to put it to sleep. I bet fire department is like please do not claim it we need a dog firefighter with a heart of gold. Dogs are cool and glad they saved the mangy mutt. I can even smack talk dogs.

So happy the dog was rescued and hope his owners try to locate him. Glad to hear he will have a home no matter what.

The same here since the dog will find a home either with the owner or the firefighters.

I agree with you that the dog looked old after the rescue.

I'm so glad the dog was rescued. I get so upset about these poor animals getting stuck somewhere.

I agree with you that animals getting stuck in storm drains is bad news for them to deal with.

For sure someone is going to take the dog. And he looks big by the way.

My mistake not telling the right size of the dog in this story. I am sure that the dog will find a home soon.

You are right that firefighters do not get the love they deserve from the public.

I also hope that the dog either reunites with his owner or gets adopted by the firefighters.
