Another great season of "The Unexplained" hosted by William Shatner on the History Channel. The first week back and it is about interesting ruins around the world. Experts have found that the Spinx was actually built thousands of years before the Pyramids, even before the Egyptian civilization. The scientists feel there may be a series of tunnels underneath The Sphinx. They have also found a complex that pre-dates Machu Picchu in Peru. Ten miles east of St. Louis, Missouri there is a man-made pyramid-shaped mound that is 100 stories tall and is the largest earthen mound found in the Northern or Southern Hemispheres. It is six square miles and is called Cahokia. It was a very sophisticated society and a lot of mystery surrounds it as to dates and what they did there. No artifacts or artifacts have been found. Near Gonn, Germany in southeastern Germany a series of erdstalls(stone chambers carved out of the stone) have been found. About 1200 of these have been found in Germany and Austria. There is no explanation as to what they were used for and similar ones have been found in Ireland, Scotland, France, and even Israel. Archaeologists think they may have been where souls were held until they were ready to ascend into Heaven. No artifacts have been found. In Antarctica, scientists are using a specialized drill rig to bring up sediments from under miles of ice. They have found about 60 species that are not unlike those found in the Rain Forests. Was Antarctica once a rainforest?

That's very fascinating. I also can't believe William Shatner is 90 years old.

I know. And, still going strong. Keeping active helps I think.

Scientists who study what ancient Earth was like hundreds of millions of years ago believe Antarctica was once a temperate rainforest and the fossil record seems to confirm it.

Machu Picchu. Isn't that one traveler got stuck there last year if not mistaken, due to covid cases in that area?
