Two Metro North employees are being thanked by the owner of a dog that ran onto the train tracks near the Old Greenwich station in New York about 15 days ago when they saw the man who was chasing his dog on the railroad tracks during a slow period for trains to run in the area.
The engineer of the train who did see the man chasing his dog on the tracks hit the brakes and used the train horn to warn the man that he was in danger of getting hit by the train that came close of hitting the man whose name was not mentioned but the name of his dog Pepper was mentioned.
Signal workers Errol Bros who is the signal supervisor and his co-worker Christopher Paci were in the area of the incident when they were able to corral the dog and return him to his owner as the dog came within inches of being struck by the train as the dog froze in his tracks as he was nearly struck by the train.
After Pepper was returned to his owner, the owner thanked both Errol and Christopher and leave the area immediately since he could have given a citation for trespassing on the railroad tracks.
Both Christopher and Errol were given thank you notes by Metro North President Cathy Rinaldi at a ceremony for their work of saving the dog from being a tragic passing story.
Cathy is asking anyone to never attempt to rescue an animal or person by running into the train tracks since railroad traffic can be delayed for a long period of time due to persons interrupting train service.

My late dad used to work as a conductor for a railroad company in Panama and he told me that trains cannot stop on dimes at all.

It was very close that the dog would have been wiped out by the train.
