"Billie Jean" was written and composed by Michael Jackson and was released in 1983. The song is about Billie Jean who claims that the singer is the father of her unborn son; but he denies it. When Jackson toured with his brothers as the Jackson 5, a fan claimed that his older brothers were guilty of the same scenario; and that's where Jackson got the inspiration for the song.
"Billie Jean" was one of the best-selling singles of 1983. The music video was a hit as well and introduced some of Jackson's signatures -- the moonwalk and black sequined jacket.
The song hit #1 on the US Billboard Hot 100, US Billboard Hot Black Singles and US Cash Box and #9 on the US Billboard Adult Contemporary chart.
