Annoyed

I just got off of the phone with an AT&T corporate customer service rep after an hour and a half. I noticed yesterday that I was charged for $120+ instead of the $98 I was told when I bought my new iPhone at the end of December. I looked at the bill and saw that I was being charged $25/month for the new iPhone 13. I thought that was included after my teacher discount but apparently not. Fine. I also was being charged $5/month for "ChargeUp" which allows you to upgrade your phone after you've paid 50% of it off (didn't know about or agree to that) and also $12.75 per month for some subscription thing. I called corporate and after over an hour of digging, researching, and discussing it with superiors it was determined that it was for accessories. When I bought the phone I was told that there was a promotion for $150 worth of free accessories. I wound up with an Otterbox case, a lightning cable, a new plug, and a screen protector. I would have only bought the case if there wasn't a promotion. Only there was no promotion. The rep tried to get in touch with the store but couldn't so he decided to just refund the 4 payments for that stuff that I've already made and give me credit for the rest of it. I'm pissed at the store but pleased with the corporate customer service. And I have all of that stuff for free now.

I can understand how that could feel. I would be too if I was getting overcharged. I bought my phone outright, but I'm glad their customer service is so good. They've helped me out, too.

I didn't feel like paying $1000 at once so I'm just doing payments.

@NJChicaa To each their own. At least you're not over paying now.

You have good reason to be upset. I would be too. I'm glad that it's resolved though.

Glad you got refunded. The store could have been doing it and messed up when they set you up.

Did you have to sign any contract or paperwork with all of this? If not, the phone store can get away with all kinds of things. I'm glad you got it straightened out.
