Our shopping adventure today.

Today we went shopping again, and again it was a really long day. First I overslept! When I'm going shopping I usually set my alarm for 8:00am. But this morning I woke up and I looked at my watch and it was 9:10am! I hurriedly got out of bed, went to the toilet, got dressed and combed my hair and I was in the living room having my pills at 9:25am! This meant that breakfast was at 9:55am, which is only 5 minutes before the time that I usually start getting ready to go out! Fortunately we'd agreed that I would go ahead first with the trolley, and order my breakfast (for lunch) at the pub, then Mum would get a lift into town with my step-dad and she would join me in the pub later. She told me she'd try to get there by about 11:45am. I told my Mum that the weather report on my tablet said sunny with cloud at 11:00am and 12:00 midday, bright sunshine at 1:00pm, sunny with cloud again at 2:00pm and 3:00pm, and then cloud with rain at 4:00pm! I had my breakfast, which was Alpen and a mug of Macha green tea, and then I started getting ready to go out at 10:30am. I set off at 11:00am and I was going at a steady pace, not having to worry about waiting for my Mum to catch up. As I was actually a bit early, I sat down on a bench for 10 minutes! I arrived at the pub at 11:30am. I was going to go and sit in the posh enclave with the blazing fire and posh seats. Infact, to start with, I did go and sit in there. The seats were beautiful, really comfortable. But then I moved the table nearer and I realised that if I sat there I wouldn't be able to reach to cut my food up, because the seats were so low and comfortable, and the table was so high! It would be great to sit there if you were just having a drink, because you could sit back and drink it, but for food, with little people like me and my Mum, not ideal. So I went and sat on our usual table, table 7. I had exactly the same as last week, a cappuccino with soy milk, and a large vegan breakfast. Again I got 3 hash browns instead of 3 vegan sausages. I was going to ask for an extra sausage and an extra mushroom but I forgot. As it was I was too full at the end and really didn't need them! Mum arrived at the pub at 12:10pm. By the time she arrived I was already half way through my breakfast. She took ages to decide what she wanted, and then she had a cappuccino and some chips and that was it, because she'd had a big breakfast and she wasn't really that hungry. She said she really shouldn't have had such a big breakfast. She was told it might taking 40 minutes, because they had a rush on at that moment, but because it was just chips it might not take so long. It came in 10 minutes. When Mum's chips came, she added salt and vinegar from those little packets you get, but she was having trouble getting into the tomato ketchup, so eventually she gave up! In the end she only seemed to eat a few chips and left the rest. I had to leave some of my bread because I was so stuffed! After we'd had our breakfast/lunch we went to Boots to get my Mum's repeat prescription. Then we went to sit on a bench for a while. Then we went to Rileys the fruit and veg shop. We got some strawberries, half a cucumber, some radishes, a little gem lettuce and a bag of sweets and that was all today. Then we went to the Works where I got 2 packs of 30 square blank cards and 1 pack of 30 oblong blank cards for my cardmaking. Then we went and sat on another bench outside Iceland. After that we went into Iceland for just a few things. I got 3 lots of frozen sea bassa. They were 3 for £10 and that is a saving of £3.50. Other than this my Mum just got a packet of cakes. But when we got to the till the cashier asked my Mum if she would like some hot cross buns for £1 and my Mum asked if they were just plain ones. When the cashier said yes my Mum agreed to have just one packet. It all came to £12 in total. After that we set off for home, but first we needed to go to the toilet. We were going to go to the toilet opposite the cathedral again, but as we were going past the toilet in the car park behind B&M and Iceland the lady in the assistance room saw us and asked if we were OK because my Mum was walking really slow, so my Mum asked her if we could have the keys to the disabled toilet there, so she went and fetched it and let us in, and while she was doing that she was telling my Mum that she could hire a mobility scooter to go and do her shopping with. You register and it's £5 a year, and then you can hire a mobility scooter any time for £1 a time. So my Mum said she would seriously consider it. So when we came back out of the toilet the lady came up to my Mum and gave her a piece of paper with her telephone number on it and all the details of how to register to hire the mobility scooters. Then we set off for home properly. We must have sat on nearly every bench on the one side of Stowe Pool as we were walking home past it. The clouds were beginning to gather, and a few of them looked very dark and gloomy! We saw two helicopters. Actually I heard them first, and I didn't know there were 2. I said, where is it? Where is it? And then I saw the first one and I said, Oh, there it is! And then I saw the other one and I said, Oh, there's two of them! From where I was standing they looked like army helicopters, and my Mum said, are they after someone? Eventually they disappeared into the clouds but I could still hear them. As we were coming round by St Chad's Church it started to spit, and when we were nearly at our street it started coming down heavier. The weather report on my tablet said rain at 4:00pm but It was actually nearly 6:00pm by this time! That means I'd been out for 7 hours and Mum had been out for about 6 hours! As we were coming into our street, my Mum told me to go ahead, because she had a hood on her coat and I hadn't. As I was nearing my house I saw my step-dad approaching, so I said, she's coming, there she is, and indicated my Mum now some way behind me. I went in through the back door while my Mum and step-dad came in through the front. I went to the toilet again and then I unpacked the trolley while my step-dad made a cup of tea for my Mum.

Sounds like quiet a busy day for you and your mom. Both of you likely needed a good rest when you got home.

@sharonelton Poor you. I hope you’re better soon. With my allergies I wouldn’t know if I had a cold.

@sharonelton Not within walking distance and our pubs are probably more impersonal than what I'd call 'old English pubs'.

Though you caught a little rain, it was quite y good day, since your Mother found out about, the disabled traveling help. Waking late, was good too, for it all worked out.
