Memory Blocks

United States

I just commented on a discussion the Ruby Hawk posted about a childhood memory regarding walking to and from school. It summoned up a partial memory from my childhood. So much of my childhood was filled with painful memories that I seem to have blocked a lot of the memories to avoid the pain. Sadly there aren’t many joyful memories to push the bad ones away. Do you have memory blocks?

For some memories, the more you want to block them , the more they crop up.

I have wonderful memories and some not so good. But I can not focus on the good.

@DianneN I agree. Today I actually talked about a bad memory with my BFF. She shared a similar thing that happened to her too. I had felt alone for so long carrying around that memory. We shared and we’re not alone. It has been laid to rest finally.

@ElusiveButterfly I think we all have bad, better, and best memories. I only focus on the good. Dwelling on the past does nothing.

Yes, I do have but I have passed through them and is above them now. I keep in touch with friends and dear ones who love me and are my well wishers.

You are so right. Easier to function when that memory says in the deep recesses of your mind,

I don’t have many good memories about my early years in school. Sixth grade was a good school year. I had a great teacher and classmates.

@ElusiveButterfly - I only hated the years I went to the Ursuline Catholic School. When I went to college I enjoyed again going to school.
