Challenge Your Inner Critic

I was diagnosed with major depression with panic attacks years ago. I have always had depression. I am always looking for new ways to be happier. And, today I read a list that included seeking out positive people, donating your time, working up a sweat, and many other helpful things to do but, one I found rather interesting and wanted to put in a discussion. That one is challenging your inner critic. When our inner voice points out things you are doing that may not be so great. We need to notice when it has taken over our mood. It may be letting you know about something that needs your attention. That's a good thing. But, other times it may be totally wrong. We need to challenge it and not let it take us down a black hole of despair.

that sounds right for sure. I notice I get depressed if I let myself be convinced by that critic that I am a bad person.

I do the same and if I let it get ahold of me too much, too quickly I am lost.

@celticeagle At my age I certainly don't want anyone thinking I am not kind and just a grouchy old biatch Not wanting people to remember me in that way being so close to my end.

I totally agree I am an anxiety/panic attack sufferer, My online writing and work keep me going and positive, When I do occasionally have moments I put myself in front of the mirror and look at myself, Then I say Are you dying? Are there others worse off than you? By that time I start to feel better and pull myself together and get back to my work, I have been fine now for quite a while, I do keep a bottle of Valerian Root tincture around I believe in the natural stuff and at really bad times it has pulled me through,

I meet so many writers who have depression, panic attacks, and anxiety. Odd that they all choose writing as an outlet. I do the worse off thing too.
