Good Friday

No idea why it's good when it's the day Jesus was crucified. Today's good Friday brought back silly childhood memories. Me and my best bud, who happens to be my cousin, were told that we should avoid getting wounded on good Friday until black Saturday because God is dead. And we were told that our wounds won't heal because there is no God. Innocent as we were, we believed it of course! So we didn't play rough games or climb trees on those days, afraid that we'd cut or scratch ourselves and it won't heal. But one Good Friday, and that was when I was still a kid, I cut myself. I got scared. But of course it healed! And nobody could fool me anymore.

It is called 'Good Friday' from the sense 'pious or holy', in fact we call it "Holy Friday" here not "Good Friday".

I really don't bother to the why's. I simply don't care about the lenten season.

@toniganzon I remember, it was when I went to school, because I went to a catholic school run by nuns. Horrible experience of my life.

Interesting personal story you shared. People have such superstitious beliefs and engage children too in believing it. Anyways have a good day. Take care

oh definitely including kissing the statue saints and giving it money each time we do. They made us believe it was for our salvation. But I grew up and realized it was all wrong to do so.

I remember dancing around on Good Friday -- I was very young and full of energy. My aunt told me it was Good Friday and that I shouldn't be dancing. That's my memory of Good Friday.

Oh yeah, we weren't allowed to really have fun. We were told we should be mourning and fasting. I remember at that time my. mother never called me to eat meal. She just let me be whether I want to eat or not. And I noticed it was only during the lenten season that she never really called me to eat.
