I smell smoke!

I'm sitting at my computer, in a room with all the windows closed and stuff and I smell smoke.
At first it had some of that sulfur smell like a match, but not quite.
I hadn't lit a match or anything. I go into the kitchen, which has the back door open, the smell is less there.
I go over to the screen door between the kitchen and front room and the smell is stronger. I go into the front room and it is even stronger.
I go to the front door, which is open and the screen door there locked. I see my across the street neighbor has his barbecue lit.
I considered going across and telling them, but... nah... I go back into my room to tell you guys.
It did give me a bit of a turn. While it isn't as hot as it has been lately, and we are expecting rain later, we are still really dry. The good news is that I know these guys are careful with their fires, so I am sure there won't be any trouble.
You ever have a scare like that?

My sense of smell is much more sensitive than my husband and I will detect 'something burning' that he doesn't even notice.
For instance, I was in my office, and I could detect the smell coming from the direction of the kitchen.
My husband had turned on the iron, to press a shirt, and had walked away and let it heat up.
Some years ago, I awoke to the acrid smell of smoke - my children were very little at the time, and I recall the terrible panicky feeling - where is it coming from? Can I get to my kids?
It turned out that an abandoned building a few doors down was in flames on that hot August evening, and I never found out if anyone was hurt. I just recall thinking how horrible it would be if it had been closer!

My sniffer is pretty bad. I say it is from years of Afrin abuse. But the fact is that I can smell bad things quite well, it is the good things I have trouble with... Of course, to me the smell of bacon is a bad thing - since back in the late 1980s and early '90s I ate bacon 3 times, went home sick twice and wish I had the third time.

@sulynsi well, it is only bacon... all those other good things... well, not corn, even popcorn, but it is because the very smell makes me feel bad... stupid allergies...
Oh, I guess you aren't one of my old friends, I'm extremely allergic to corn... yes, allergic enough to not even be able to tolerate the smell.

Yeah one time I woke up to go to work.. once I was out of my apartment I smelled strong gas in the corridors !! I have one neighbor in the building so it must be coming from his apartment, but I couldn't ring the doorbell because it might start the fire.. so I ended up calling a friend (firefighter) and the building owner n I left for work. They found an almost empty gas bottle upstairs that my stupid neighbor got too lazy to get rid off properly.

Years ago, the other end unit in the row caught fire. My place smelled like a campfire for a few days.

The lady in charge of the apartment we lived in for a while lit her mattress on fire smoking in bed. Happily neither she, nor her little dogs were hurt. She hauled the mattress out to the dumpster. We called the fire department and they tried to put the mattress out, but in the morning, it was just springs.

yes I have. Two times when I lived at the trailer park, I had smelled smoke and it was because there was a fire on the mountain that is near the trailer park. I am very sensitive to it and really can't be outside. Also once when my great-aunt was burning some wood, I couldn't be outside for long.
