The Mountain Lion goes by such names as puma, cougar, panther, and mountain lion. This carnivore eats only once or twice a week, lives for 8-13 years, and can move at 40-50 MPH. Males weigh between 115-220 pounds and females between 64 and 141 pounds. They are mostly found in Central, North, and South America and the southern tip of Chile. There are only several thousand left in the U.S. Due to habitat reduction, conflicts with livestock, and hunting of these animals they are critically endangered in some areas. They are similar to house cats in that they cannot roar but they do hiss, shriek, growl, and purr. Picture courtesy Adobe free images.

A wild cat came in my sons yard, climbed on his car. My son got a picture of it.

@celticeagle He wouldn’t hurt an animal. He lives not far from the mountain and wolves and deer come in his yard. That was the first wildcat.

@celticeagle I know, and we have plenty of those who would shoot at a wild animal.

I used to live by a man who had several such wild animals in his garage.

Kind of cute, if it wasn't dangerous. I'll stick to my house cats, thanks.

And it will hurt them and the animals down the food chain.
