I started watching it at midnight last night but couldn't manage to stay awake to finish it so I started over again this morning. Each season follows one of the books so season 6 was based on A Breath of Snow and Ashes. The problem was that it was filmed during the height of COVID and while the lead actress was pregnant so they cut the planned season of 13 episodes down to just 8. They lined up several things this season--the reappearance of the American Indian from the future, Malva Christie's death--and I was certain that those would be wrapped up by the end of the 8th episode. Nope. I was wrong. I was alarmed when I saw a headline yesterday saying that Outlander ended with a cliffhanger. Well that was unfortunately in fact the truth. It isn't a cliffhanger though really so much as it just stops in the middle of the story. STARZ has said that there will be extra episodes in season 7 to make up for the shortened 6th season. Fans call the time between seasons "Droughtlander". People re-read the book that the upcoming season is based on to refresh their memories. The good news is that they are already filming the next season so we won't have to wait almost 2 years again like we did for this one. Oh well. It wasn't what I was hoping for but I'm sure they will make up for it in season 7.
