What is the word?

So, back when I had a bunch of cats I put up what I call "gates" in the house. These are heavy screen doors that don't really keep out bugs, but if you put a deadbolt on them, they can be security doors. I have one on the front and back door (with deadbolts) one on what was Viv's room and is now mine, it also has a deadbolt from back when she had the work computer in here, and between the front room and over the hall entrance. So, this is the gate I want to talk about. Cleo, the younger dog, likes the 'snack' in the cat boxes (ewww) so we 'crate' her in the hallway at night or when the weather is bad enough during the day. It is also the way to the roommate's bedroom. Now, she works from 3-12 midnight, so she's mostly a day sleeper. She moved in at the end of July 2018. Labor Day weekend Viv was depressed so we went to the animal shelter and came home with an orange kitten I fell in love with named Boris. The roommate got up and Boris was all up on her. "You're new," she said. "I go to sleep and wake up to orange kittens." (This is true, her former roommate took in 3 10 day old kittens a few years before.) I told her that he was mine. Well, you know cats... he decided she was his... She protested, but she really didn't mean it. She started to call him "Sixteen," since we had 15 cats already, but she realized that we would probably be back down to 15 before the end of the month - and we were. Now, Boris maybe an orange guy, but he has the voice and vocal attributes of a Siamese. If he wants something, he'll ask for it. However, if she is going to bed, she doesn't want him in the hallway, not in the least because Cleo is more than a bit protective of her 'crate.' During the day, I don't want him in the hall because he goes over to her door and wakes her up. She started with: "No! Get in the kitty hole." This is a hole in the big cabinet we built by the hallway that we can put the recycling bin in, it is behind the gate when you open it. So, I'm running to the bathroom this morning and Boris gets there first. I say: "No Boris! Get in the kitty hole," and he does. So... is it "No" that gets him in there? Or: "Get in"? or "kitty hole"? What is the magic word(s)? What do you think?

No magic words do magic with cats. It might be the change in mood or plan.He just wants to be a good cat for a while

Oh, he's mostly a good cat, except when he wants to run out. Or jump on Opal. He's figured out that Opal does a lot of yelling, but isn't like Onyx who does a lot of scratching and biting! He's even taught Teeny that Opal is the one to jump on... or maybe Teeny has figured out she's bigger than Opal is now.

@arunima25 he's a pretty smart one, not my smartest cat ever, but certainly the smartest cat now.

Boris is such a piece of work. He actually jumped on the roommate's shoulder a bit ago. He does this because he is hoping she'll go to her room (past that hall gate) but she was just on her way to sit down at her work station.

That's a cute photo. Hard to say, cats can learn entire phrases, so it's possible it's the whole thing.

Yeah, he was still pretty young there, but I can't seem to find other pictures on this computer. I mean, Kismet, who is behind him, has been gone for a couple of years - cancer. I suspect it is "kitty hole" since that's the only time those words come up. He gets a lot of "No!"s.

The orange cat of my neighbors have a voice that you can hear the windows closed. If he wants attention I cannot miss him. May be "kitty hole" is the magic word.

I think they are the magic words. I've certainly had a couple who were pretty loud. Julie did something that upset Teeny and Teeny just yelled at her. When she wants something she'll ask pretty nicely, but she got yelled at yesterday.

@ElicBxn The cat of my neighbor is incredibly loud. When I go out and I do not notice him he surely yells so that I notice and pet him.
