I hope the weather there is better than it is here. I've been to the local horse track a few times. Honestly I didn't really like it. I'm not into gambling and I was always nervous that one of the horses would break a leg and have to be put down on the track.
I do watch the "big race" each year for each of the Triple Crown events. I don't really know why. I usually select the horse that I want to cheer for based on its name or the colors of the jockey's jersey. (that's some really scientific stuff, right?) A couple of years ago a coworker and I went to the local OTB to place bets and have a couple of drinks. I remember it being sad for me because it was just a couple of months after my ex and I had separated and weeks after I had moved out. I appreciated her getting me out of the apartment though.
I haven't even checked out the names or colors of this year's racers yet. I might place an online bet just to make it more interesting. Stay tuned!

Horse racing is not my thing. Like you, I worry more about the horses.
