Most of us know who Mary(Wollstonecraft)Shelley is. She was the English novelist who wrote the Gothic novel, Frankenstein. She was married to Percy(Bysshe)Shelley who was a philosopher and romantic poet. But, did you know this about her: When her husband drowned in his boat in 1822 he was cremated. His heart refused to burn. Some Modern-day physicians feel it might be that it calcified because of his earlier bout with tuberculosis. His wife, Mary, kept the heart in a silken shroud and carried it with her for nearly 30 years. A year after her death in 1852, his heart was found on her desk wrapped in the pages of his last poems.

This post is amazing to learn about Mary Shelley keeping the heart of her deceased husband's heart in a silken shroud and carried it for 30 years.

Talk about carrying togetherness a little too far...

Yeah, it is rather extreme.

That's a little disturbing. I don't think I could keep my husband's heart around.

No, neither would I. She was a romantic to the tenth degree.
