Kenya day at Church.

It was Kenya Day in Church yesterday. I wore my light blue dress again, the one that I wore for the Easter Breakfast, but this time I wore my small black shrug cardy and my big grey coat over it because it looked cold out. I walked to Church again. I only found out it was Kenya Day when I got there. There were some photos on the walls from Kenya and there were Kenyan coffee's and tea's being served at the back of the hall. But I still used my own green tea T-bag. Mum arrived about 25 seconds before the service started! We sang some songs, including a new one that we were only taught last week and one that was quite old. Plus we also sang Way Maker again. Jeremy Bell leads our missions group and he was the one presenting Kenya Day. He told us what had been going on in Kenya recently. First he showed us a video of the Church in Kenya greeting us. He said greetings and hospitality is very important in Kenya. Then he talked about the credit union, where people can borrow money to start up businesses. There was one lady that he showed a video interview with who was a debuty head at the Victory Christian School (more about that later) and she also had a small business selling maize. She had started off the business with a loan from the credit union. Next he talked about the fruit and vegetables that they are planning to plant this year, including cabbages and bananas. They are also planning to move the orange trees. They are also planting something native to Kenya. I can't remember what it was called. He showed pictures of the land where some of it would be planted, one before it was ploughed, and one after. He said it was ploughed by cow because the machinery had broken down! He said machinery often breaks down! Then he talked about the School. Victory Christian School was opened around 2017 in rented rooms in a warehouse. We at our Church helped raise money to build a School and now they are using it to teach the children. It's not yet finished, and their permissions to build have run out, but they are confident an extension will be granted and they will be able to finish the next wing. Jeremy played a video interview with some of the school kids who described their day. Then he showed us a video where he showed us round the newly opened Life Wing (named after our church). He said they'd used tiles which many of our church members had sponsored, and to listen out for his shoes squeaking on them! We didn't have to listen out, it was so loud! He showed us round while the kids were in assembly and he showed us the class rooms, the corridors, and a view over the roof where you could see the foundations of the next wing which is yet to be finished. He showed a video of a couple of the leaders of the Church thanking us for all we'd done for them over the years, and giving us a blessing. Then he told us he'd been to his first wedding in Kenya, and to finish up he showed a video of the bride and groom and the wedding party dancing down the isle. After the presentation we sang another song and then the service was finished. Mum had brought a card for Brenda because it's her birthday soon, so I went and gave it to her before she rushed off. Then I walked home. Andre Rieu was on a lot yesterday aswell. He was on from 1:00pm, 2 episodes of his documentary "Welcome To My World," and then at 4 :40pm there was a concert "Love In Venice" which lasted till 8:00pm, which we really enjoyed. How was your day?

@luisga814 Thank you very much. Yes, we really enjoyed it. They said about 20% of the Churches tithes and offerings go to missions and about three quarters of that goes to Kenya so it's nice to see what's going on and where the money is going.

@LindaOHio Good morning and thank you very much. I've just been to the little Tesco again, and now I'm doing MyLot (obvs). I don't think Noise.cash is really for me. How does it work and how much does it pay?

That's nice that your church recognised Kenya Day. We have quite a few Kenyans in our city.

Wow, that's wonderful. We had a black guy sitting by us at Church on Sunday. He was very nice. I don't know where he comes from. He might have been born in England in which case I don't know where his ancestors come from.

It must be an amazing day at your church. The Kenya cultural event was interesting and wonderful to learn about. My two sons went to VCC years 9-11. Now my youngest son is with VCC at home, too year 10. A good Christian college. :-)

Good morning and thank you very much. Yes, it was a very interesting morning and it was great to hear how our money was being spent. The school there is really coming on well. They were building each part as the children get older so they have a new classroom to move into when they go up a year. I'm glad your sons went to a good Christian college.

It's all explained in the post. Jeremy was talking about Kenya and what's been going on there recently in the Church and the village that we support as a Church.
