It is increasing again

My country had lifted the mask mandate. This was a welcome news for everyone. The number of cases of people contracting Covid had gone down significantly and there was no more reported deaths from the virus in April. Hence you could not blame the government to make the decision that masks are no longer compulsory or temperature checks before entering business places. However since the past two weeks there is a steady increase in the number of cases of people contracting Covid. There has been an influx of tourists from all over the world to enjoy our beautiful country but they are also contributing to the spread of the virus in the country. This virus has no face, it has no respect for anyone. This virus is a silent killer. There has been about 5 reported deaths from the virus in the past 2 weeks since the mandate was lifted. There are also cases of people still needing ventilators and have to be hospitalize because of virus. Are persons still catching Covid in your country? Are there still reported deaths from Covid in your part of the world?

Our province lifted mandatory restrictions 6 weeks ago. I’d say, 50% of the residents still where masks in public. (90% in church). The numbers are rising, but I’ve decided to bury my head in the sand and refuse to look at the actual numbers. Apparently my province is the highest per capita in Canada….I’m not looking….

What place are you in right now? Here in my place despite the cases not increasing alarmingly like it was before the mask mandate still is implemented. I think it will take some time before our government will place this face mask to be mandated for everyone.

I think the increase in the cases is due to the tourists coming in from all over the world. The hotel industry had suffered during the heights of the pandemic. They are just opening now and trying to make some profits so they are accepting everyone from anywhere.

I preferred when we all were required to wear masks.

Sopposedly a lot 100,000 a day they said across US 18 and under 80 percent have had it. That's crazy. You will just have to do what Japan Does. In 96 they were wearing masks and its not everyone but they say that is the reason for things like Covid but even youngsters like you kind of get laughed at but bet no one laughing now.

Mask mandate is lifted at our place too. So far things are in control in many states here. In my city, most people are still wearing masks despite the mandate being lifted. Cases are rising steadily in our capital city of Delhi and that's worrisome.

@askme123 There have been few. It's in single digit in the last two weeks. But then that should be enough to raise the alarm and take necessary precautions. We don't want another devastating wave

@askme123 The US has been badly hit one. And so has been India. Things seem to be in control right now in India. But you never know with this tricky virus. No one is safe unless everyone is.

Don't we live in the same country? No such mandate here regarding the lifting of the mask rule.

Which is your country that has lifted the mask mandate? The country where I live (Switzerland) did the same. We have no Covid deaths from several days.

Yes there are a few Caribbean countries where covid cases have jumped over the past month. This happened soon after the lifting of restrictions.
