Our house has never been broken into before, so this was really traumatic and made me angry too. Dad was really worried and we did not tell mom since we know she'd react really badly. But we couldn't really do much since I am afraid if we go to the police they would retaliate and no one is staying in the house yet, since fixes aren't done. We just reported it to the town officials but we have no suspects so they can't do much... Fortunately we took most of the important stuff, but they still managed to get a lot, watches, oven toaster, dad's clothes, lpg, etc... probably 400 to 500 USD worth of belongings. I really hate people who steal from others, I hope they get bad karma. I'm just glad the roof works is done now so at least they won't get inside anymore. have you ever been robbed?

Well, you need to level up security features of your house. Install barb wire. install CCTV. with motion sensor. You need to have a pet dog 1 or 2.

@solidcodes thanks for the tips. But cctv like that doesn't need the internet all the time to work right?

@lady1993 Be sure the CCTV is I.P. capable and able to connect thru the internet. and has the feature of notifying your smartphone when someone is suspicious. This way you can call the police immediately.

So sorry to hear that story of yours. I think one of the worst feelings is when you realized that your house was robbed. I think it feels like your privacy was violated and taking of your personal belongings is really tough. I really just hope that there will be no repeat of that incident anymore. Maybe placing some CCTV or burglar alarm might help since you will always feel unsafe if you do nothing in your place and just let it pass.

@lady1993 Just place the CCTV in a discreet way where no one would notice they are there. Some establishments place mock CCTV to deter any attempts but I think it's best to put one that is real so that you can really see anyone who is planning something on your property.

Yes, it was really an awful feeling. We'll definitely install some cctv in the future, hopefully the kids won't shoot at it

I am so sorry those thieves grabbed everything they could in your home. Yes, we have been robbed soon after we were married and we lived in Italy.

Hope karma catches up with them soon. We were robbed in the US when we went on long vacation. When back, many things were taken from our apartment. We were even robbed on gunpoint once there.

Gosh that is so scary. Did you ever manage to catch the culprits? I believe in karma too, sometimes it takes some time but it will be 10 times worse for them.

I am sorry for the typhoon crisis you have been through. I know how it is not to have a solid home because ours have been drinpping all over and run down roof in one room. We fear somone might get in as well. We have 4 dogs so they will have to go past them

Burglars won't go in when there's someone inside.. most of the time. At least you have dogs.

@lady1993 There is a burglar going on about in our province and they threaten to kill or hurt those inside so even if the residents know that there is someone in the house they are afraid to act. A laptop and 3000pesos was stolen.

@yoalldudes that is quite serious, has the police done nothing?

That is quite annoying. Perhaps you can install something like a camera and alarms. Once there is a breakin, then the alarm will make a big noise and it will make the bad guys away.
