Someone if you seem interested in how my 7 year old son ended up with pinkeye. Let me start with pinkeye is a bacterial infection to the eye cause by usually poop hand washing which I’d you’ve ever been around young kids you know for a fact they do not do a very good job and some times none at all. With it being bacteria this type is the same as like strep very contagious until you’ve started meds for treatment. For pinkeye eye it’s eye drops or a cream that you places under the eye lids. A lot of people will say just do home remedies which is fine but I do not know how well that works. So personally my family does meds from the doctor. After meds are started that person is contagious for 24 hours. My youngest started yesterday around 3pm because he has to do it 3 times a day 1 drop for 7 days. I know we caught it earlier so most likely he didn’t pass it on to someone a lot of people see the eye discharge as jsur allergies since we are in allergies season but this mama knows better but also my stubborn 7 year old last week made messes with his poop in the house which the doctor found amusing yesterday and agrees that he indeed has pink eye because that would do it. We did tell him last week that what he was doing would get his sick what do you know it did. If you’ve never had pinkeye before then you probably don’t know how it’s caught. In a lot of cause it’s just poor washing, or kids playing with there own bodily waste and you can certainly get it off of any surface its know more for young kids get it because kids share germs with each other.

Kids share germs as they are still not very good with keeping their hygiene upto mark. I had it once when I went for a vacation to my uncle's home. I caught it from my niece who was just five at that time and unknowingly I passed it to my husband. Well, it is irritating and awful while you have it but glad that it stays for only a couple of days Hope your son gets better soon.

I had pinkeye, it was bacterial and I got it in a store where I went to buy eyeglasses (not here, in France). Their machine had not been cleaned well enough and the person they tested before me was contagious.

Yep! This is why I some times ask to watch like the eye doctor people clean the before I sit down. The ace we go two is suppose to wipe it down after it’s used and before it’s used so it gets cleaned twice

@LadyDuck how germs survive depends on the germ and what product your using to clean. Heat helps kill of this which is why most medical places wash, dry, and heat everything for sterilize things.

@ShyBear88 - I am fine with my ophthalmologist here, I do not let the optician test my eyes anymore, only my eyes doctor. Also the one in France wiped everything, but some germs survived for sure as I got pinkeye.
