Bamboo plantations are very popular in the countryside. In the countryside in West Bengal the agricultural lands are very fertile. Bamboo plantations are planted in many places. In many case dwarf bamboo plants are planted. They look green and add to the ecological balance of the place.

We have bamboo here but it doesn't grow as thick and strong as in more tropical countries.

I agree with you that. Bambboo forest can also act as a water catchment area whereby it helps to attract rains.
