Helping an elderly man

Doing a good turn Today I did a good turn. I assisted an elderly man who is probably in his early 80s to get a trike to the bus terminal. He's 10 years older than me. While I was about to complete my morning walk passing the national road, I spotted an old skinny man with a curvy back standing along the side of the road under the heat of the sun. He's smaller in body structure than me. I approached and told him not to stay close to the road for he might be hit by a running  vehicle. He moved a little. I told him to move to the shady part of the side of the road where there's a tree. I asked him from where he lives. He said in Brgy. San Miguel, one of the 14 villages in our small city and it's located in the mountain area of the city and it's very far. I know probably he's there near the lending office to secure loan against his monthly pension. I helped him to get a trike to bring him to the bus station. I told the trike driver to bring to the bus terminal of Brgy. San Miguel and paid the fare. I didn't walk away until the trike was gone afar. As I took a stride going home, I was  heartbroken for seeing that elderly unattended by his family. And nobody helped him while he's standing the under of the scorching heat of the sun near the busy national road. Anyway, I am a bit relieved for I have helped him. I have done a good turn for him.

That was really nice of you to help him. He should not have to be sitting in the hot heat from the sun.

Yes he shouldn't but he did. Nobody is looking after him.

That was very nice of you. I wonder where his family is too. I never let my father go alone anywhere when he was very old

Life in your country is doubly hard, so you really did a big good deed there. Some might have just hardened their hearts, and kept walking on. You softened your heart, and helped. Well done, indeed.
