Short story: Proof of God

The American professor, Professor Ludwig Weilopski, had always been an atheist, but when a visiting spiritual guru was giving a spiritual talk on the existence, and proof of God, he thought that he would go, and attend the talk.
It might be interesting at that, he had thought to himself.
The Guru, Sri Ramgerandipumlinkanalangsen had finished up his talk with these words.
"Once, I asked God, once and for all, to prove his existence to me to my mind, heart, and soul."
"Later that night, I had a dream, where I met up with God, in that dream."
"God said to me that he could answer my previously voiced question like this:"
'"The world goes on despite you in it, and so does God, who gives you a window into life, and creation, through your body, and a window into God, through your soul, and a heart of love, to connect the experiences in one field to the next."
"Your parents give you a name, and God has given you a name too"
"With a coming in surname like yours, I gave you a more simple soul name. It's simply, "Flam."
"This name indicates that you play a part in creation, and if you add the right note to your name, the note of "E", for example, you can remember then to become a flame for God, always on fire in your life for God."
"In music, a 'Flam' is one of the basic elementary patterns of drumming, consisting of a stroke, preceded by a grace note."
"There is another slang meaning for the word 'Flam', though, which means,
'a lie or a hoax; a deception; nonsense, or drivel.'"
"Now, for you, this is what you will become, when you do not live up to your soul name's other meaning, and it is always your own choice which of these two ways that you will go."'
"I woke up from that dream, thinking that this was just my own imagination. I had never heard of the word, "flam" before."
"I looked it up on my computer, and here is what it said:"
"A flam is a drumming technique, wherein the drummer strikes a grace note, just a hair's breath, before striking the primary stroke."
"Drummers will use flams to thicken the sounds of their notes which they play, which then produces a longer note than which they could make with just a single stroke. Strokes can be single, or multiple notes."
"So, God knew what he was talking about."
"Why don't you all ask God this same question tonight before you go to sleep tonight, and see if God also answers you in a dream too."
And with that, last remark, his talk finished up.
The good Professor thought to himself, that he had nothing to lose by his trying this technique for himself too.
That night, though, he died in his sleep.
He went to Heaven, and God said to him.
"A question to me, must be asked from your heart, your soul, and your mind, all working together to get an answer that you can hear."
"I gave you an answer too, but as you only asked the question with your mind, you never heard the answer, so I have brought you here now to receive the answer in person."
"Yes, as you can see, I exist."
"Now, go back to your body asleep on that bed there, and live out the rest of your life, believing in me."
The Professor woke up a changed man.
For the rest of his life, he believed in God.
And, who wouldn't after such an experience as that?
God answers each one of us in his own way.

Do you need proof of God?
Does one need a torch to light up the sun?

Thanks. Yes, opening our hearts is the way to feel God.
The Professor could not do that, in my story, and was asking for proof of God with just his mind.
God gave him a powerful message, and his heart was opened to receive the truth, which he then kept, as he continued to allow his heart to stay opened for the rest of his life too.

My faith in God is an assurance that God exists though I haven't seen Him but He exists. Just like the air though I couldn't see it but I feel that it exists.

Yes, that's a good analogy.
We feel the wind's air blowing against us, and I think that we can feel God's love blowing through us, or into our lives, at times too.

@innertalks That's a confirmation that God exists.

Over time, my doubts seem to build up stronger, until the next prayer is answered, then all my doubts are again removed.
I am a hot, and a cold, believer, at different times.

The professor is now a born again in terms of his faith and belief in God.
No half measures as one needs total commitment to elicit an answer/ awareness.
I have also seen some with one foot planted firmly in their material pursuits but seeking God at the same time.
They are then deluding themselves.
Our awareness of God is by itself proof of his existence however much we deny the obvious.
No harm in showing our gratitude to our creator.

Yes, we do seem to have some sort of an inbuilt radar, or homing pigeon, within us that keeps heading us back towards God.
Whether this is real, or has been implanted within us over time, by the world, and the society around us, is open to debate, I guess too.
We have no final proof, and even if we do get it, as the Professor did here, nobody much will then believe our experience, as we have no concrete evidence of what has been our experience.
I am sure that the Professor's associates, and other Professors around him, would think to themselves, that the guy, has gone a bit nutty, and become a God infatuated freak/weirdo then too.

@Shiva49 If the water is poisoned, though, in Rome, would you also drink the poisoned water, though?
There is a great story that Osho quoted that shows us the folly of when in Rome, following the Romans.

@innertalks I also come across a few who proffer their views and even advices for others to follow.
They talk of divine inspiration for doing that
Though I take them with a grain of salt, I have no way to know what they say is real or they just want attention.
I feel if we tune to the right frequency, we do get a different feel about life in general.
However we are brought down with a thud to the reality here soon enough!
While in Rome, do as the Romans do!

Thanks. My brother is an atheist.
He makes me question my beliefs, which is good, l suppose, as it sometimes weakens my beliefs, but more often, it motivates me to find more reasons to strengthen my beliefs, by my trying to get closer to God too, and to try to gain more understanding of how it all works too.

@dya80dya I have certainly wavered over the years, but some experiences seem to make me think that there is more there than what meets the eye.
I prefer to be a believer too, as being a non-believer depresses me terribly. All life would be for nothing then, to my mind.

@innertalks I searched for proof so many times. Now I prefer to be a believer even if my faith is weak sometimes. Were you an atheist before? Or were you always a believer?

Yes, most ideas of God, that we hold come from others, unless we have our own experience with him, and like you said, nobody can take that away from us.
Those who have their own experiences are usually convinced by these, and it is so real for them, that nothing can stop them from thinking it was real, except, for maybe the passing of time, where, it does fade a bit, unless another reinforcing experience comes along for them then too.
I am such a one who doubts themselves, as time passes, unless I have continuing reinforcement experiences like that too.
