Our highest Indian court has legalized prostitution but the feedback of some prostitutes are not positive as they wanted come out from that horrible profession. A young prostitute spoke to the media and said that she was dragged into this profession. She tried hard to get a decent well paid job but couldn't. Now, she says even if she is given a good job she knows she will be exploited sexually and so she has to spend live in this he'll where they get no sympathy and have to entertain their customers even when they are not well. They are not allowed to eat, drink, rest and sleep peaceful. Did the law help the ill fated women in any way?

That's too subjective. Not all prostees have that mentality.

I saw most of their reactions in the news channel. None were satisfied they just hoped something better from this legalizing of their profession but were skeptical.

@Nakitakona Best is ban this profession and bring these women into the main stream. It will take time but it can be done.

Yes, her words in the news channel were pathetic. All of them had to cover their faces because of social stigma.

I doubt it. People would only pick that to do if they were desperate in my opinion. It's far too risky.

You are right. This profession is risky and that's why no woman wants to get into the profession.

Weather it's legal or illegal I don't see what it changes. Hopefully the law would at least mandate that they get regular free STD checks.

@aninditasen Well then it is not beneficial. But then have they got another source of income?

That the pain. No doctors in India is ready to check or treat them. They said how they suffered in this pandemic.

@flapiz They don't find it beneficial because they are searching for an outlet. Even I think so. This will never allow them to come to the mainstream of the society.

Don't know if the law will help them or not? But they have miserable life as they are like slaves and have to obey their masters and if they don't they are beaten and don't allow to eat anything.

That's true. I have heard them relating their painful life to a local news channel, full of despair saying that they had no way out.

It is a profession that’s been around for so long. I don’t condone it whether it’s legal or not.

Me too for it's both mentally and physically harmful for the women.
