Todays shopping adventure.

We went shopping down the town again today. First of all we tried to put the old support frame from the old trolley into the new trolley, but it wouldn't fit. it was too big and jutted out a lot at the top. So we gave up. We took it out and then it collapsed completely! It had connecting wires that kept it together and they were clipped on, but they easily slipped off! I was so stressed and disappointed that I burst into tears! My Mum said we would get used to it and we would have to do without the support frame. When we have shopping, she said, it will hold the sides of the bag sturdily! Then we found out that we couldn't get the new trolley near to the back door because there was too much stuff in the way and the trolley wouldn't fit passed. So instead we took the trolley out of the front door and we headed off for town. it was 11:00am when we set off. We took it in turns to push the trolley and get used to it. When I was pushing the trolley my Mum would use my walking stick. I went to the toilet by the Cathedral first. Mum was tired and sat on a bench. When I got to the toilet there was a group of visiting school children in red school uniforms milling around the toilets. I went in the disabled toilet because it's the only one that will fit the trolley. I heard the girls teacher say, "Hurry up girls, we've got to get back to the coach. He's not going to wait for us you know!" There was a lot of noise and talking amongst the girls and the noise of the taps and hand dryers. Then I heard their teacher say, "Now you're being silly girls." I was a while in the toilet and when I came out there was a queue of schoolchildren lined up outside, boys in one line and girls in another waiting for the toilet. I started to make my way back to my mother, and then I saw her coming towards me up the path. Then we went and sat on another bench by Minster Pool and I took a picture of one of the Cathedral spires with my phone. Then we went to the Halifax because Mum wanted to withdraw some money. I sat on a kind of soft bench/sofa in there while my Mum got her money. There was a young woman in there, possibly homeless, who has tourettes syndrome. She swears a lot but she can't help it and always apologises afterwards and she talks all the time and calls everyone mate. The lady who was serving my Mum in the Halifax says she's really nice actually. Then an old lady who one of the cashiers in the Halifax called Mrs Smith came and sat by me while she put her money away. She was a lot older than my Mum and it's her birthday soon apparently and it's a milestone birthday so I'm guessing 80 90 or 100 years old even! Anyway when she got up she was more energetic than my Mum! Then my Mum came and sat by me for a bit. Then we went to Boots to get Mum's repeat prescription that she should have had last week. They told her to come for her next lot on 4th July which is a Monday so she won't have to come shopping with me on the Friday! But then again it's my birthday on 10th July (which is a Sunday this year), so I was hoping to have a birthday meal out on the Friday. Then we sat on a bench and ate our sandwiches. I ate mine a lot quicker than my Mum, so she saved half of hers for later. After that we went to the new Tesco Express and bought some Soy Milk (no sugars) for me, some ginger nut biscuits, kitkats and some Regina kitchen roll that we haven't been able to get for ages. Then we went to Rileys the fruit and veg shop. We got some strawberries, half a cucumber, some tomatoes, some lettuce, a packet of liquorice allsorts and a packet of jelly sweets. Then we went to the pub (24 Market Street). I went to the toilet first because I was bursting. I seem to be going to the toilet a lot lately. I asked my Mum if she wanted to come in the section that has really comfortable sofas. As soon as she sat down she told me she wouldn't be able to get up again! You see, these sofas are too comfortable! You almost disappear into them, and that's why my Mum said she wouldn't be able to get up out of it! We both had a cappuccino with soy milk. They came in glass cups today and they were very very tasty. After we finished our cappuccinos we both went to the toilet in the pub again. (My Mum did eventually manage to get up, although it took her a while!) After we came out of the pub, we went into the new Waterstones bookshop. My Mum is very impressed with it. It has more than just books. It has gift ideas and games aswell. I found a tablet holder that I want to get next week. And a few Bibles. (I'll only get the one.) (I didn't have enough money with me today.) But then my Mum started to feel a bit tired again so we went and sat on a bench outside B&M. By now it was 4:00pm. Mum wanted to phone my step-dad up to tell him where we were and what we were doing but her phone was out of battery so I let her use mine. Then we went to the toilet by the Cathedral again. Eventually we set off for home. We stoped to sit on several benches on the way. When we eventually got home it was 6:45pm! We took the trolley in through the front door and put it in the kitchen and I unpacked everything and put them away. Then I had a good rest on the sofa! How was your day?

Yes, it's mainly fun. But it's not good that she can't walk fast anymore. She used to be able to walk really fast.

I've had a busy week--I've had the opportunity to work more than I normally do, so I've been taking it--but I know I'm going to be very tired when Friday afternoon comes !

I'm sure you'll get used to the new trolley in time. I guess it's a bit of a nuisance if it can't come in through the back door.

Yes, I'm sure we'll get used to it. It will go through the back door eventually. Mum just has to dismantle the old trolley to get rid of it, then we will be able to bring the new trolley in through the back door and then store it where the old trolley was. We'll have to take it out through the front door first though, because there's boxes and stuff in the way so there's not enough room to get the trolley past to get to the back door!
