Short story: Rabbi Zeb talks on God, our soul, and perfection

Rabbi Zeb Rezar had a saying that he always trotted out when anyone questioned him about God, and the state of the World.
"God sees all from his eyes of good, as good, and l try to do the same."
Then he would add:
"God places our perfect soul in our body."
"Our soul is pure. God created it, formed it, and breathed it, into us."
"God keeps our soul in us, during our lives, until he takes it away at our death."
"We need to live, connected to our soul, and never break this connection."
A student had asked him these two questions, after one such talk, when he had given the above sentiments out once again.
Is everything perfect within God's creation, and is all operating as God wants it to be operating?
If all is perfect, what is free will?
The good Rabbi answered him like this:
"Perfection is our term, not Gods."
"With God, all happens as it happens, and it is what it is, as he is what he is."
"Everything is planned, in one way, but left unplanned in another way, for it to be itself, as it wants, but even this, always fits into the plan, as everything is powered by the plan, not really from itself."
"The plan sends thoughts to all to chew over, follow, or leave alone, this is the choice of life, what to do with, and how to handle, these ever incoming thoughts."
"Free will is tied to our thoughts then."
And with that, the Rabbi finished his Saturday night discussion, again, for that week.

God is perfect, but his perfection is something that we can never know, from our minds alone.
Only our heart can feel, and then know this perfection, when it loves God, and all around itself too.

I like the last part especially; "but his perfection is something that we can never know," This is so true. God is indeed perfect and the perfection is unimaginable.

Yes, we could never get close to knowing what real perfection is, and yet God would like us to try to do this.
The Christian Bible advised us to try to be as perfect as God is too, and to try to love perfectly too.
If we could love perfectly, our life would be perfect then too, as perfect love casts out of us, all imperfections.

@innertalks I guess the imperfections make us humans..

@ihasaquestion Yes, we make mistakes because we are human, but we can still strive to learn something from each mistake that we make in our lives, and keep edging ourselves on towards perfection, in that unending journey too.
We can stay on the road to perfection, but it does not mean that we will ever meet it, or live from it completely.

Yes, I agree. There are many religions that talk about God, but God always remains the same one God.
God's love is an ever-active force within our hearts.
And love never rests on its laurels in us, but expects us to live from it, at all times by our reaching into love, and allowing God to connect us to himself, and in this way, we are a light to the world, of love living in us, as itself.
The length of life is related to the extent that we love.
When we do not love, our life is shortened in its effect, not necessarily in time, but in the sustenance of the aliveness of God's love, living as real life, within us.

Yes, if we do not believe, and trust God, our life is a mess, and a shambles, as we can never live our true calling, of our true self, or soul, without a belief in God too.

That God has created this whole universe is proof enough of his love and sense of perfection. They are out there for us to be inspired by and are worth emulating in our own way.
We should take care with the choices we make so that we do not work at cross purposes with the whole process, going against the flow of love.
Our travails have been due to our sticking out like a sore thumb and falling foul of divine love showered on us.
The prompts are within us and it is then for us to play by the rules.

Yes, the rules are there for our benefit, and we would do well to remember that, and to follow them, as best we can do so.
If we go with the flow of love, the rules usually will take care of themselves, though.

@Shiva49 Well, you could do that, but a mack truck might run you down the too.
Freedom is there for the taking, but there is a price to reaching past the limits of freedom too, and abandoning our duties, by our moving into that level of gay abandonment, that you talk of there too.

@innertalks Yes, freedom has its limits and we have duties too.
I cannot go to the middle of a street and swing my arms with gay abandon in the name of freedom unmindful of others nearby.

Before men had dwindled in unbelief everything seems to be perfect. But when man transgressed no one is perfect.

Yes, everyone has fallen short of the glory of God now, and we need his help to raise ourselves again.
We need God to help us, and we need to be humble enough to ask him for his help, and to admit our wrongs too, and with his help try to right ourselves, not to wrong again, but to follow God, and love, and the guidance of his Holy Spirit too, which some say is love as well.
God loves the son, and the spirit (Holy Spirit) of love flows between them. I heard it described that way once, and I liked the way that it was so explained.
