In the U.S. Attorney's Office, District of Idaho two young men were charged on March 24, 2022, for killing a Golden Eagle and 5 red-tailed hawks. They got two years probation and 15 hours of community service for one count of the unlawful taking of a Golden eagle without permission and, for the unlawful taking of a migratory bird of prey without permission. Colten R. Ferdinand, 20, of Boise, and, Wyatt G. Noe, 23, of Eagle were found guilty of killing the birds after a year-long investigation done by the Idaho Fish and Game Department. The birds were found in the Morley Nelson Snake River Birds of Prey National Conservation Area. The two men pleaded guilty and both had to forfeit their firearms and ammunition to the courts. Also, Noe was ordered to pay $3,000 and has a 2-year ban on possessing firearms or hunting. Ferdinand got the same but a $3,800 fine. The Golden Eagle is protected under the Bald Eagle Act of 1940 and all other birds of prey are protected under the federal Migratory Bird Treaty Act. The image is from Google.

Exotic animals should be protected, especially if they are near to extinct.

Why did they kill the birds? Did they give a reason?

Do they really need one? Most just go out for target practice.

@celticeagle It's not necessary to kill animals just for target practice. You can practice with lifeless objects. I'm glad to read that they got a big fine.

It is a shame that two Idaho young men would kill a Golden Eagles and 5 red tailed hawks in violation of a law.

Well, they deserve it. They know that it's against the law. That's why they pleaded guiity. Why they do it?

Target practice. See if they could hit this majestic bird. For some reason, evil people want to take away the best the world has to offer.

@celticeagle Meaning they do it intentionally. Thus, they deserve to be put under the law.
