Reverend Ben Bender, was giving his weekly Sunday sermon, and his topic this week, was "Life and death." Let's listen in to what he said: He started with this Bible quote: "'No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command, I received from my Father.'" "This verse is from the New Testament gospel, of Saint John, chapter 10, verse 18." "It is Jesus Christ speaking here." "Before this verse, we have this verse:" "'The reason that the Father loves me is that I lay down my life in order to take it up again.'" "Now, we have some spiritual masters who claim that they know the time of their own deaths, and that they can die, when they want to die too." "This is all just bigheadedness, though, as only God has the power to end anyone's life, and he will call their soul home, when he wants to do so, and when he wants to end that life here, in this side of life." "No soul, connected to a physical body, can end their own life, unless God has given the go-ahead for this to happen." "Love creates the energy of life alive in you, which allows you to stay alive when that love remains active, moving between God, your soul, and your mind, or physical body." "Love, moving like this, creates a field of consciousness that gives you awareness within this life too, which all three of these aspects of you can use, your mind, soul, and body, can all be aware, and increase in awareness consciously so, from connecting to an even greater field of consciousness, by loving more perfectly and strongly, and love is the purpose of life, and understanding and growing in that perfection of that love, which happens congruously, as love and consciousness, grow together upwardly awarely, in your life." "Now, that was a large chunk to take into your mind, and so I will finish my sermon there, for today, but with this last added quote." '"Life has to end, love doesn't."' "That's a quote from the American writer, Mitch Albom." "God is responsible for creating both life, and love, and so we have to live our lives from that love to honour, and to do justice to, his creation of us, as life." Yes, love can seem elusive, and to define love as to what it is exactly can be hard at times too. "Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it." Rumi, a 13th-century Persian poet, said this. I never used to agree with him, as I thought that we should seek for love, and God, in our lives, but lately I have come around to his thinking. I was in a church recently, and I asked Jesus Christ, "What is love? I do not really know what it is, and how can I love?" He said that I do not need to know what love is with my mind. I just need to stop myself from non-loving, with my mind, like if I feel impatient, angry, upset, blaming, resentful etc. within myself, just realise that that is not being loving, so stop doing those things, and do not aim them at others, but just be there with them, without these other thought elements beside you, and then love will naturally emerge from your heart, when those other elements of non-love are quietened down, and gone away. That's when I remembered that Rumi quote, and so then it made more sense then to me too.

God is the creator of everything and He has the divine authority to take it away.
