One partner for lifetime

Me and my husband spend 34 years of our lives together. He is no more with me today and has left for his heavenly abode, but his memories are with me. I can't measure how much he loved me but he always said that he cannot live without me. He would leave the house immediately if ever I left the world before him. He was very possessive about me and always wanted my presence around him.
Today I am alone without him but can't think of another man in my life. He is my invisible partner forever now.

It's lovely that you were together for 34 years. You sound like you were very committed to one another and that is a very rare thing in this day and age. I salute you.

Ours was an arranged marriage. As years went by we don't know when we started loving each other. We never discussed about commitment but were concerned about each others well being.

@aninditasen That's amazing. How wonderful that you fell in love. Maybe I should get an arranged marriage!

@sharonelton You can, but meet the person and at least talk and know about his attitude. Me and my husband met once before marriage and spoke to each other about our attitude towards married life.

@RebeccasFarm Thanks for your condolence. I think I am much stronger now and can manage things single handed.

I just felt like dying when he left this world. I found it very difficult to cope without him. Anyway I have gathered strength and he is watching me from heaven wading through life.

@Juliaacv Yes, he loved me madly and sometimes asked me if I thought him to be mad and we had a good laugh.

Yes, lucky enough for a person who said that he would marry me in our next life as we Indians believe in rebirth.

I cannot fall in love with another man. At least not in this life.

It's not easy to live with a person for so long but when you love someone these years look small time. I have been married for 16 years and looks as if we married yesterday only.
I know it becomes difficult to live alone when you become habitual to living with a person for so many years.

@aninditasen absolutely. It takes a few years to understand the nature of a partner when it's an arranged marriage

@sjvg1976 Yes, understanding materialises into mutual adjustment which is very normal. For example me and my husband have different food habits. Slowly he started experimenting with food of my liking and I his. Only he never ate chicken and egg and I have never forced him.

In India where marriages are arranged by parents as was our love develops gradually and so I think stays with us even when one partner is gone. His memories does away with my loneliness.

It's good you understand his possessive attitude.

I had to as he went mad if I ever remained away from him for long.

@Nakitakona Not only possessive men but women too. I have seen my mother-in-law go mad if her children didn't see her often.

@aninditasen That's the very nature of a possessive man.
