What is the Gold Standard for News in the World?

I asked myself this question after reading a certain post here. It dealt with a person in the news. Someone who is of the opinion that only his way is the best way for our country. He is wrong but many, too many, side with him and strangely believe in him. Are these people getting foul news or what? There have to be some really good places to be getting our news from. So, I did some research. There is a list that many professors use to let their students know which news sites are acceptable to use. The American Press Association has set down nine fundamental principles of journalism that these sites utilize. Along with using these and being free of political bias they also have an unceasing amount of excellent work. So, wouldn't anyone who wanted to get the truth and listen/read something that is realistic as well as objective go to these to obtain information? I would hope so. There are the wire services: Untied Press International, Reuters, and Associated Press. Reuters is known as one of the most trusted organizations in the world. What about radio? Talk radio and such give radio listeners few options The NPR(National Public Radio) is free of governmental censorship. Though owned by governmental entities and publicly funded it is one of the most trusted news organizations. We also have The BBC and The New York Times. BBC World is the world's largest international broadcasting organization and offers content in 40 languages. The New York Times was founded in 1851 and holds more Pulitzer Prizes than any other news organization which makes it the most influential newspaper in the world. So, we have a very wide range of highly acclaimed news institutions to get the real 411 on any subject.

Our news agencies here is manipulated and controlled by the government. Others that are free reign are being censored and ultimately closed by the government when they write negative news about the government. Freedom of the press is bleak if not gag.

News sites, short video platform, We media, blogger are producing massive information everyday, it seems no gold standard for news in the world today. In the past, news sources are national owned media, now it is from personal interest and algorithm and ...em..invisible big brother. The gold standard is flexible and invisible

That is one reason I made this list. There are ones that shine through and it is our choice which we read.

I would prefer listening to the World News from BBC. Or if I don't have access to that, I have emails.

I have a feeling I know what you are referencing. Tis a shame, no? I read several newspapers--The SF Chronicle, The Washington Post and the New York Times--I listen to NPR and watch their newscast. I also read Truthout and the Guardian. We should all be getting our news from a variety of news sources. I think.
