And The Beat Goes On

Would you give your heart away? Not talking about romance here - this topic is about becoming an organ donor. If it happens (unfortunately) that you no longer need your heart would you donate it so that someone else can live? While you leave this world your heart will continue beating and giving life to another human being. Ofcourse, while you are alive you can also donate a kidney or a piece of your liver to someone in need. If both my kidneys are healthy and a family member is in need, l would donate one of mine. I recall some years ago , a well known person in the entertainment industry needed a kidney. His wife gave him one of hers. Shortly afterwards he left her for another woman Would you be an organ donor? Would you help another person to live? Pixabay image

I used to have a card but no idea where it went or whether it would be valid now

@Kandae11 Yes I carried a card when I was working but dont think anyone would know my wishes now Probably they would prefer younger organs anyway

Definitely. I'd be happy to donate my organs to the people in need after I passed. Like you, when I'm alive, if my kidneys are healthy, and a family member is in need, I would donate one of mine.

I am glad that you would. Of course some people would if they could . Reasons why some persons won't could be - religious, medical or simply preferring to go to their graves whole.

@Beestring That's what l was thinking too. Cremation is quite popular these days.

@Kandae11 Agree. Is going to the grave whole still common? I think cremation has become an increasingly popular choice, at least in my place.

We are both registered as organ donors. I think it is mentioned on our drivers licence card. It's amazing what body parts they can harvest these days.

By donating your organs and tissue after you die, you can save lives.

Dale and I have been registered organ donors, but never needed to do it. Our organs are probably too old now to give away!

I am an organ donor and I have it marked on my license so yes, I would give my heart away...although I don't think it is in the best shape so no one would ant it (I just posted about that a few minutes ago.) Maybe someone could use something else...like my eyes or lungs, liver, etc. I even hear they take skin these days.

Skin! - maybe for burn victims. So you are an organ donor - very commendable. Let me check out your post.
