Betsy DeHaan is a very happy person who received good news over the weekend when someone named Angie Brey who lives in Fort Myers Florida who found Harley who is Pit Bull who ran away from the DeHaan home in February 2014 when he went for a bathroom break and then ran into the woods and went missing. Betsy and her relatives did what they could to find Harley by placing flyers around the area. Betsy and her family moved to Gainesville Missouri a few years later having to deal with they thought was the loss of their pet. At the time that Harley went missing, he was adopted by Betsy from the Lee County Domestic Animal Services in May 2013 when Harley was around when he was a puppy. Angie Brey who is a volunteer at the Lee County Animal Center answered a call from a concerned neighbor who saw a dog that looked like Harley in the neighborhood. Angie then went to pick up Harley and when she took Harley to the local animal hospital where the veterinarian found the microchip on Harley. When Betsy received the phone call from Angie that her dog was found safe and sound even though Harley had lost weight, he was available to be picked up at the animal shelter. The best part of this story is that Betsy traveled from Missouri to Fort Myers to reunite with her pet dog after eight years apart.

A stroke of luck that they’re back together. I wonder if the dog recognized his owner. Eight years is a long time.

I am sure that dogs have great memories of what their owners look like after a long time apart.

8 years is such a long period, but it is a beautiful story, happy for the dog and the owner.

Yes an eight separation is a very long time apart. I agree with you that the reunion was beautiful.

There is nothing like family. This dog is a part of the family. Betsey traveled because a family member lost his way for eight years and when Betsy heard that the dog was found. She did what any family member would do and went and got him. In my opinion that is what you call unconditional love for a family member

That's a long time for the to be apart. I'm sure they are both over the moon at being reunited.

While I'm glad that Harley has been reunited with his owner, I would be heartbroken to have missed 8 years with a beloved pet.

I know how that feels being away from a loved pet for a long time.
