So!!!! (No, not the Peter Gabriel album, that didn’t come out until 1986.
) How to follow a 40-year-old country song? How about with another song from 1982 that you’ll probably hear sometime this week on a satellite station or radio station. Then you’ll go, “Wow, really, it’s been 40 years?” Yeah, I know. Here’s today’s song.
Hungry Like the Wolf - Duran Duran
Roberto Roberto!
Actually, they were named after the villain in the film Barbarella. (I read that, never saw the movie.)
With their good looks Duran Duran quickly became a favorite on MTV, combining catchy new wave songs and dang slick (for 40 years ago) videos. I didn’t care much for the “boy band” aspect of their career, but I do love this song.
I especially like the video, where horny guy gets put in his place
Hungry Like the Wolf
Written by Nick Rhodes, Simon LeBon, Andy Taylor, Roger Taylor, and John Taylor
Recorded by Duran Duran
From Rio, 1982
(Today’s 1972 song: “Goodbye to Love”)

Very familiar with this song. You should watch Barbarella. Very strange movie.

It was all I could do to watch Comes a Horseman, and that was because I love James Caan. Fonda? No.

@LindaOHio — I thought he could have used some manners in his personal life, but I thought he was handsome and a terrific actor.

@FourWalls I don't think I've seen that one. Of course I don't care for James Caan. We are so different!!!

Don't know this one but funny how wolves keep popping up I was once inspired to write a poem about a real cad and I called it The Wolf With the Red Roses,

@FourWalls will this help?
Have you ever thought about how many songs with wolf in the title have been written? This list ranks the best songs with wolf in the name, regardless of genre. Most of the tracks listed here are songs about wolves, but almost all of them have different lyr

Yes, this one and “Rio” were like video travel brochures! I was a little “old” for them in the “teenybopper” department, but good music is good music, no matter how pretty (or ugly) the singer is!!

@FourWalls Oh yes - I loved Rio too
! Teenybopper music . . . oh yah . . . I felt that way (and still do) starting from my 20s. I watch the old music videos from the 80s and pretend like I am the age I was back then

It’s kismet! I’m not a huge fan. I prefer “Save a Prayer” to “Union of the Snake.” But look at what else I listen to.

In my early twenties I dated a guy who had a toddler, and I taught her to say that she was hungry like a wolf anytime someone asked if she was hungry.

@FourWalls It's a fair bet she did. I actually saw a picture of her yesterday. She's almost 14, or 15 and her dad and grandma at least were fans of the song, so I assume she's heard it a few times.

. Iconic 80s music video . . . seemed so "exotic" at the time!
