A 16 year old teenager who lives in Moss Point Mississippi named Corion Evans along with a friend of his named Karon "KJ" Bradley were at the right place at the right time on Sunday morning when they saw an auto driven by a female driver who was using her GPS inside of her auto not realizing that she was about to have her auto fall into the Pascagoula River when the auto she was driving fell off of the Interstate 10 boat launch since the area was dark due to the event being around 2:30 am.
After the auto fell into the river both Karon and Corion jumped into the river in an attempt to get the teenagers to the roof which was successful.
Moss Bluff Police Officer Gary Mercer arrived on the scene when he saw Evans in the river when Officer Mercer jumped into the river to assist one of the teenagers when she got scared and dragged the police officer into the river by accident.
Evans then assisted both the teen and the police officer to get to the shore safe and sound.
Evans was awarded Evans a certificate of recommendation by the Mayor of Moss Bluff Billy E. Knight Senior and the Board Of Alderman for his act of saving the life of the teens and the police officer in a ceremony on Tuesday night.
My belief is that since the accident happened around the Independence Day holiday, the teens were out on the road past midnight since common sense tells us that teens should be at home getting their rest to take on the next day of work.
I just wish that more teenagers would be like Corion Evans and KJ Bradley who are willing to risk their lives to assist others in need.

You are correct since police officers do not like to tell the parents of a deceased teen that their child is gone for good.

@RubyHawk It is since I know of a former state police patrol officer who nearly shed tears when he shared these kinds of stories at safety meetings for the delivery drivers.

I read about this. He probably didn't even know he had a hero inside of him. I think most of us don't know until it happens.

An act of heroism comes from a person who acts to do the right thing even if they are scared.

@misunderstood_zombie I hope so as well since the rule of life is to remember what you do right and not allow negative thoughts to dominate the mind.

@Deepizzaguy This is true. I love the quote that Courage is fear that has said its prayers. We are capable of more than we can even dream of. I hope this teenager has a wonderful life ahead of him.

You are right since many of them get scared thinking of making a rescue of someone in water or in a burning building.

That is very true due to the shock of the events of the auto accident that evening does cause stress for a while.
